Home Again Home Again

Posted by Ryan
May 31, 2010

The rain just started coming down on a yard that needs it, a kebab dinner's prepped for the grill, friends are headed over soon, and my feet are up on the couch while the wife enjoys some TV.  Being home is...

Perfect.

Crazy spring cleaning went down today and the garage, attic, and basement are officially organized and clutter-free.  Something about chucking a bunch of stuff you don't use anymore out onto the curb helps you realize what stuff you really need.  Super-size plastic candy cane Christmas decorations:  escort to curb.  Clunky college microwave:  donate.  Bag of childhood stuffed animals:  open, get sentimental over, carefully place back on shelf.

Running errands around town, being the only male in the theater at a chick flick your wife really wants to see, walking around the neighborhood after dinner...

Catching up with friends & family, borrowing a tool from a trusty neighbor, watching cars go crazy fast around the track while enjoying a bratwurst and a cold one...

Firing up the grill as the clouds turn all sorts of colors behind the trees, going to church and your pastor telling you how good it is to have you back, taking clothes out of a drawer instead of a suitcase...

Being home is...

Perfect.

Thanks to everyone who supported us this Spring.  We hope to see you in Atlantic City this summer!  I'm going to get back to being home now.  Hope your Memorial Day weekend was as good as mine!

Ok, so I totally understand the whole taking the bag of childhood stuffed animals out, and then putting them back on the shelf. I have to clean out with my closet sometime soon, and I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of that...

Thanks Ryan, for even thinking about sharing this with all of us when you didn't really have to on a day that was meant for spending with family; remembering those that made a difference, inspired, and impacted our lives; and remembering those that allowed us to enjoy these opportunities. Thank you for including us into your "family".

    Ryan,
Sounds like you certainly packed a lot into your time off, and it DOES sound PERFECT! Good for you!! Enjoy the rest of your time off and being with Lauren. Hoping all of you come back refreshed and ready to go again! Can you believe your life? Take care, and I'll see you guys at Harrah's!

Looks like you've had a great week, Ryan. Amidst all the cleaning, errands-running, and celebrating, it seems like being home means that much more. Enjoy the last few days of being home, tell Lauren I say hi, and give Rusty a pat on the head for me! :)

Ryan: It is great you had this time at home with Lauren! That is important to a marriage. The best part is when you come home and realize you are appreciated. When my husband did a lot of traveling, I always tried to have special dinners for him although half of them went to waste because he was delayed. Your situation is a lot different as you are still "newlyweds" and miss really being in the same house. Have fun, rest up, enjoy time with Lauren and your family--soon it is back to the road and lots of new exciting things like performing in England. Did you see Katherine Jenkins on the Memorial Day of the Mall show last night. Pretty awesome lady and super talented--I would say ya'll are going to have fun in England.
