On the road again...

Greetings, Chasers.

Today we're in Kansas City, MO, where the sun is shining and it finally feels like Spring.  The Midland Theater is a beautiful venue and reminds me a lot of Proctors Theater in Schenectady, NY (from last year's Winter tour).  It has an early 20th century vibe with ornate decorations on the walls, a big chandelier, and a steep balcony way up high.  Due to union rules, we can't load in our gear from the bus for another hour, so we're hitting up pharmacies, supermarkets, etc. for little stuff we either forgot to pack or need more of already.  Imagine 10 guys fanning out to find dressing rooms, vying for their place in line at the sole washing machine & dryer backstage, and that's what we're basically doing right now.

We were in Boulder, CO the past two days and had a great time debuting our new material and some choreography (blocked by our good friend Jim Ruttman, who also choreographed all our moves for the PBS Special).  If you've never been to Boulder, go.  It's a really cool college town with a lot of character and charm.  We also got to reconnect with Mark Holloway and Don Nottingham, two of our SNC family members from IU days, which was a big blessing for all of us.  Thanks to everyone in Boulder for making our first two shows of the tour very memorable!

The first night sleeping on the bus (last night, as we had hotel rooms in Boulder) went as smoothly as sleeping on a twin-size mattress with a foot of headroom could go.  This morning some of us watched about the first half of Wall-E in the bus, which I had never seen before.  I hope Eva gets released by her lazy humans and finds the plant she found on Earth soon.

I gotta get some grub in me soon or I may become cranky.  Cranky is never good on a bus with limited space and 9 other dudes.  See you at the show later tonight, Kansas City!

Ryan

You rocked the house again in Royal Oak last night. A GREAT concert. Along with being insanely talented individuals (who make an even more insanely talented ensemble), you remain fresh, funny, innovative, creative, and overall, exceedingly sincere. I think these things come from being so noticeably in awe of the opportunities in front of you -- that's a great thing, by the way. This awe is what keeps you fresh, funny, innovative, creative, and sincere. Thank you for having so much fun with the fact that you get to do what you love every day. It is inspiring and contagious -- and applicable to ANY personal and professional work. Finally, all of these attributes are not lost on the young people in your audience -- they are also inspired by your art. Thank you for being entertainers for all ages. Art and music are the long-lasting beneficiaries, as are all of your current and future fans.

Great story, Cindy C! Thanks for posting. Wonder where he got that idea, though. Plenty of "boy" singers. ;-)

Saw you in KC last night. I drove in about an hour with my best friend to see the show. We both teach elementary music here in MO and love your sound. We would have loved to have stuck around after the show, but teaching today on that little amount of sleep would have been unadvisable - you have to watch those little kids every minute! ;) I wanted to tell you about a Kindergartener you all "helped" last fall. When I asked him to sing in our first class together, he informed me he didn't sing because he's a boy - yep, a 5-year-old boy already stereotyping himself. So I played Africa for him and showed him your picture. He's been singing like an angel ever since! :) Thanks for the music!!!

SNC Fans: I was just on Barry Manilow's website--he has a very nice shout out to SNC and has a free download of One Voice! I downloaded it but my computer won't let me open it but if you are interested, it probably will work for you!

We had the wonderful opportunity to see you all perform in Boulder on April 6th, 2010. You were all amazing which I am sure you hear at every performance, but more then that you are all down to earth, friendly, funny, and a true inspiration to others. A couple of days ago I thought about you because there was a teemage boy on the front page of the internet that sang Acapella to his girlfriend asking her out for prom. It was an adorable sight to see, and I can only think that you have all played a part in that. Watching you perform with my mouth hanging open the whole time I realized you are all like a puzzle piece with your own characteristics, and when you all come together as a whole it is the most amazing picture ever. Thank you, and your families for going over the road to share with all your fans your truly incredible talents. Hopefully you will come back to Colorado so my whole family will have a chance to see you live. Have a safe and fun tour.

Yes I was at the Midland last night and was once again totally blown away by your performance. I took a girl friend who had never heard of you and she could not believe how great you were! You now have one more fan...Yay! The vocals were amazing and I must say that my favorite song performed last night was Billie Jean. You guys rocked it!

Hope you get back to KC soon. Contemplating Atlantic City. My husband is calling me a groupie...which I am! Best of luck to you on the rest of your tour.

Wow no words could describe last night! I've been to a lot of performances in my life and that is by far at the top of my favorites list! This is Carolina from KC by the way... you guys were so approachable and genuinely nice last night after the show. It was really cool to meet you! I can't even imagine doing that show as many times as you will, you deserve a lot of credit! Best of luck!
