On the road again...
April 7, 2010
Greetings, Chasers.
Today we're in Kansas City, MO, where the sun is shining and it finally feels like Spring. The Midland Theater is a beautiful venue and reminds me a lot of Proctors Theater in Schenectady, NY (from last year's Winter tour). It has an early 20th century vibe with ornate decorations on the walls, a big chandelier, and a steep balcony way up high. Due to union rules, we can't load in our gear from the bus for another hour, so we're hitting up pharmacies, supermarkets, etc. for little stuff we either forgot to pack or need more of already. Imagine 10 guys fanning out to find dressing rooms, vying for their place in line at the sole washing machine & dryer backstage, and that's what we're basically doing right now.
We were in Boulder, CO the past two days and had a great time debuting our new material and some choreography (blocked by our good friend Jim Ruttman, who also choreographed all our moves for the PBS Special). If you've never been to Boulder, go. It's a really cool college town with a lot of character and charm. We also got to reconnect with Mark Holloway and Don Nottingham, two of our SNC family members from IU days, which was a big blessing for all of us. Thanks to everyone in Boulder for making our first two shows of the tour very memorable!
The first night sleeping on the bus (last night, as we had hotel rooms in Boulder) went as smoothly as sleeping on a twin-size mattress with a foot of headroom could go. This morning some of us watched about the first half of Wall-E in the bus, which I had never seen before. I hope Eva gets released by her lazy humans and finds the plant she found on Earth soon.
I gotta get some grub in me soon or I may become cranky. Cranky is never good on a bus with limited space and 9 other dudes. See you at the show later tonight, Kansas City!
