SNC & Olympic Champion Skaters Meet For a Night of Heart Pumping Action On The Ice

March 3, 2010

Acclaimed a cappella group Straight No Chaser will join Olympic, World & National Champion Skaters for a Night of Exhilarating Performances.

Youngstown, OH – 2010 Olympic Bronze Medalist Joannie Rochette, and 2006 Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen are just a few of the amazing skaters featured in Disson Skating’s “Skate for the Heart,” with live performances from You Tube and PBS A Cappella Sensation Straight No Chaser. The live show is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, OH. The taped show will air on NBC on Sunday, January 16, 2011, from 4 – 6 p.m. EST.

The Cast: Includes 2006 Olympic silver medalists Sasha Cohen and Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto, 2010 Bronze Medalist Joannie Rochette, 2010 Olympic Silver Medalists Meryl Davis & Charlie White; and US National Champions Ryan Bradley and Caydee Denney & Jeremy Barrett. Hosted by Olympic Gold Medalist Peggy Fleming.

The Music: ATCO/ Atlantic recording group Straight No Chaser will perform eight of their hits live with the skaters including numbers from their new album “With a Twist”. Founded at Indiana University in the fall of 1996, Straight No Chaser’s goal was to expand the boundaries of the traditional college a cappella group. From the start, they viewed themselves more like a local band that just happened to use their voices as their instruments. As original member Randy Stine comments, “We take the music very seriously; we just don’t take ourselves too seriously.” In the process, they are reinventing the idea of a cappella on the modern pop landscape.

Tickets: Tickets for “Straight For the Heart” go on sale Friday March 19th at 10am and will be available online at Ticketmaster.com, our Retail Locations, including Giant Eagle and Macy’s, or charge by phone at 800-745-3000 (Toll Free Express Line: 866-448-7849). Tickets are also available at the Covelli Centre Box Office. Tickets start at $36.50, $51.50, $69.50 and a limited number of On Ice tickets will be available for $89.50. Additional fees may be applicable.

The Covelli Centre is owned by the City of Youngstown and is managed by privately-operated JAC Management Group LLC of Struthers, Ohio and SMG, a Philadelphia based company that provides facility services to more than 215 public assembly facilities.

Actually, I just noticed Ryan Bradley listed as a national champion...hmm...not that I'm complaining. He's such an entertainer, he really deserves to be the National Champ.
Really, really wish I could go...All the autographs I could get...so far away. Oh well.
I think there should be behind the scene footage of this!

Congratulations SNC! This is an awesome collaberation!

Just a bit of irony that when they compete, they can't have vocals in their music and this show will be nothing BUT vocals!! Very cool :)

wow.....very cool! and only 50 MINUTES away.

Hmmmmmm, should I go to hear the guys sing, or go to watch the hot chicks skate......guys, chicks.....guys, chicks. I just hate hard decisions.

Seriously - because the past two weeks, my TV was nothing BUT Olympics.....I'm very familiar with the above names.

NOW......if only we could get SNC and Olympic Curlers.......THAT WOULD BE A GREAT SHOW!!!! lol
