Erin: I just voted and hope it works--I have to say this is a great video, but I love the video of Dan's proposal as well. You are right though as this is the one that started the current ride!
I agree with you Jane, if they would have been there in Tucson and heard the last encore, they would have realized how amazing these 10 guys really are. I don't think they are "overstylized." They just do what they love, and are perfect at it... Keep it up guys... Singforme was right you think your busy now just wait..
Too bad they were not there in Tucson for the last encore - "In the Still of the Night" without microphones - no production effects there. Just amazingly, beautiful sound from 10 stellar performers. You guys rocked the house that night - with your skills, style and pure love of your craft. I will love watching you follow your hearts all the way to the top of the charts!! We love you in Tucson...
I, for one, do not find SNC "overstylized" nor do I think you "succumb to a cappella conventions". They did say some nice things too, which makes me happy! You guys are great and I can't wait for your Minnesota concert! Keep up the good work!
I remember when I had to write reviews in college and the professor always stressed that I should be critical, so I would "pick apart" whatever book or article I read for the review. My papers always sounded like I hated what I read, when most of the time I actually liked it.
I was writing for the professor and my "critical reviews" always got As and I'm sure if I wrote one now, I'd still be picking, because it would be a hold-over from what I was taught to do. I'm betting that's what happened here.
I've heard it said that even bad press is good and this is by no means all bad, so WAY TO GO!
Diva: You have a great point--how many people go to college acapella concerts. I've lived in 4 states, three of them very close to colleges and had never heard of any until I saw the YouTube of SNC two years ago. Haven't heard of any others since except of course for SNC! Gee I wonder how many Billboard have heard of---how many have record contracts and tour the country?
This is great publicity even if some of the off handed remarks aren't all peaches 'n cream. If our guys (can I call them that?) think they're busy now, each town they sing in will just bring more attention, more sales, more demand. They better get ready. Since their performance Monday in Santa Fe, I've been telling anyone who will listen how fabulous they are live, recorded, video...
I for one, actually like their live recordings, when they're done well, better then then some of the studio ones, because the guys play so well off the energy from the audience!
I've never seen a college, or any other, a cappella group before SNC, so it doesn't matter to me if some of the songs they are doing "have been turned inside out by college a cappella groups for decades", cause they're all new to me, & from comments I've heard from people who are familiar with this genre, nobody does it like SNC!!!!
Billboard has a round about way of saying SNC is really good! Why waste the bunch of words Billboard! SNC is one terrific group of ten men who are extremely talented at arranging, singing, entertaining and just great guys! That would have been far better then the "beating around the bush." It is good publicity and SNC deserves great ratings!
