Just an FYI for you Straight No Chaser fans in southeastern New England: WSBE Rhode Island PBS definitely airs Straight No Chaser. We love the act! And love that they have performed in little Rhody for their fans! In fact, we have tickets to their upcoming November 16th performance at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence.

We will air "Straight No Chaser: Live in New York" tonight at 8:30 p.m. WSBE transmits over the air on 36.1, or on Cox/Verizon/FullChannel 08, Dish 7776, DirecTV36. Our viewers in Massachusetts can watch on Comcast 819 (check Comcast's local listings for standard def channels - we're all over the place - 09, 11, 19, 20... depending on your location) or Verizon 518. In northeastern Connecticut? Find us on Cox 08 or Charter 23. Visit www.ripbs.org for info!

Her is my answer from WGBH. I think we need more folks to drop them a line.

I think that it sucks that our Dish TV PBS stations aren't carrying this program. You would think that Terre Haute would carry it!!! Can't wait to see the show.

Great idea Jim. Why didn't I think of that?

Way to go, Jim. Hopefully others will follow your lead. Can't believe Boston isn't scheduled to show SNC. Crazy.

I just sent an e-mail to WGBH Boston to get them to air your PBS special. I would encourage others from the Boston area to do the same. Maybe enough of us can influence them to show it.

Kathy, I like the "regular" music, but I really love the Christmas stuff. :-)

They are not playing in my area (Boston/Providence). Is there another way to see the special?

I just watched it again tonight. I love the Christmas music, but I prefer their non-Christmas. Donna, glad you got to talk to Dan. How fun!

I was really surprised by the difference in the concert tonight versus the one at xmas time. I thought it was going to be all the same music plus the added stuff, but they took all the xmas music out & it's awesome!

OMG!!!!! I just got to talk to Dan Ponce, the leader of SNC, on the phone at the WTTW studio during their pledge campaign!!!!! Their concert is playing there tonight!!!!

    Karen,
I think I read on the DVD package that it was filmed in August, 2009. I loaned my DVD out today so I can't check that fact, but I remember it was in late Summer. On the DVD you see the guys really worked up a sweat as they were performing. But the way they work, it is no surprise that they would work up a sweat. Really great concert and it is benefitting a really good cause. I just hope SNC guys are able to reap a hugh benefit in sales to their tour this year! They deserve it!

Absolutely wonderful concert. I can't wait for the Chicago Theater show. I've always maintained that hearing anyone perform a capella is a true test of their talent. It shows the good and the bad. One thing I'm particularly struck by with SNC is the perfect amount of vibrato and the wonderful falsetto voices each of them are capable of.

Thanks Sheri, that does explain the look of a religious place, it's beautiful!

My local PBS station replayed Live in New York again tonight. One of the gals hosting described SNC by saying "they make bad 70's music sound great." Speaks volumns about SNC fellows. Again I offer my thanks to SNC for helping the PBS stations who are desparte for money to keep their programming going. My station is locally owned and their money to stay in business comes from we, the subscribers and local businesses who sponsor programming. BIG HUGS IN THANKS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE TO HELP PBS STATIONS WHO HAVE CARRIED YOUR SPECIAL! Every little bit helps! I think all the staff have tickets to the 4/24 concert as well.
