Well...April is just around the corner, so that means it's time for a Charlie Love Thread! Time to discuss all the things we love about this bass extraordinaire:
His genius comedic timing...
His glorious rich, chocolate-covered cello voice...
His warm, friendly personality...
Please feel free to add to this list of all the wonderful things Charlie Mechling brings to Straight No Chaser!

Kristin.... Rolling. On. Floor. Laughing.
Resist, Kristin...resist. It'll be worth it.
This may be the MOST tempted I've been to cave in and watch an AC video. I think I'll go for a brisk jog around my building until the feeling passes. In 100-degree heat. In heels.
Sexy and hilarious - a lethal combination.
Beware the AC spoiler.
When Charlie says "Baby," at 1:56 you think you are going to die because of that deep sexy voice...but by the time you get to the "that's not white gold...I don't know what that is. Maybe aluminum" part, you think you are going to die from LAUGHTER.
The man is a comic genius. With a sensual dark chocolate voice. Wow. What a combo.

@Mary - why do you feel the need to encourage Charlie to sing Josh Turner songs? Don't you understand what a TERRIBLE idea that is???? It's DANGEROUS, I SAY!!!
I couldn't let this thread go a whole week without showing some love for Charlie!
Two words: His. Smile.
'Nuff said.
Angie - I'm so glad you feel the same way! I was hoping I wouldn't get any judgement for that statement!
Mary - Um...he...ah...what now? *goes to check the mail*
Amanda - I'm the same - the first time I'd ever heard Chicken Fried was SNC's version, which I ADORE! (not big into country either!), so, as I've done with all SNC songs with which I'm not familiar, I went to check out the original. Yep. Still not a country fan.
I'm going to piggy back off of Amanda and say that my love for Charlie grew quite a lot this week in AC. I still don't really have words to describe the awesomeness of this week, and a lot of that has to do with Charlie (not that the other guys weren't amazing like always... because they were duh). One day I will be able to come up with words to describe this week properly...hopefully lol.
So I meant to write this on here earlier but forgot...anyways I just needed to say that I LOVE when Charlie sings Chicken Fried. Recently I had "Chicken Fried" stuck in my head and as I was singing Megan asked me "Have you ever heard the original?"...the answer, no. I'm not a huge fan of country music and the first time I heard Chicken Fried was when Charlie sang it. I made my way to iTunes and decided just to preview it and see what it sounded like. I made it about 10 seconds into the minute long clip before it hurt my ears (no offense to anyone who likes it). Needless to say, I'll be sticking to SNC's version...
Also, I just got back from a week in AC where I picked up some extra Charlie love. I have some great memories from this week and he definitely helped make it special.
Atlantic City report: Charlie just melts my heart with his pics with Hayden at the beach. What a gorgeous family! I am so happy he can spend the summer all together with them. This is ideal!! I got to meet his beautiful and gracious wife and little Hayden at the show. Hayden is so cute!!
Now, that I got the baby part over with, Charlie was Mr. Entertainment at this show! He not only sings and dances his heart our with his stunning bass voice on the duet with Rome, but he comes out in the audience and just busts up everyone with his routines with audience members. Rome is right there with him making it even funnier. Charlie looks lovely in a leather jacket. Well, they all do.
Kristin, I tweeted a Josh Turner song to Charlie that I would love him to sing. You better watch out. It *could* happen.
Angie, Charlie wrote a very sweet note - just to you - on the item I am sending you from SNC in AC. You will love it. This is what I mean by saying these 10 men go out of their way to be kind and generous with their time with us Chasers. That is just another reason we love them so much!!
Charlie, if you read this, I think the world of you!!! I love your talent, your personality, and, your soft, kind heart. I so love the Hayden pics, and appreciate that you share a tiny part of your family life with us like that. Thank you for being the man you are!!
SO AWESOME of Charlie to post a bunch of photos of Hayden on his FB page today. He is so gracious to let us peek into his private life like that. He has such a beautiful family. It's amazing to see how much Hayden has changed in just a few weeks. Thanks again, Charlie - we love you!!!
LOL - Atta girl!
Dark chocolate, of course. A rich, deep dark chocolate.
Angie, darling, no argument here! So is it milk, white, or dark chocolate covered? ;p
Gina - that description was one of the first things I ever posted on this site...caused quite a stir! I truly think it is the perfect description of Charlie's voice. ?
Wow "... chocolate covered cello..." - I know there is another word after that, but I will never look at Charlie the same again....... EVER! lol ;)
I have STILL resisted the urge to watch any videos from AC (I'll be there myself for Labor Day weekend in 49 days, wooo hoooo)! I'm sure Charlie is beyond awesome in their show. But I resolve to remain strong and stay away from YouTube until then. IcandoitIcandoitIcandoit. . . .
Oh that beautiful deep voice on the AC videos! 'twas Great to hear more of that voice!!
There's no place like Harrah's.
There's no place like Harrah's.
There's no place like Harrah's.
am I there yet?
Charlie and Jerome's part in End of the Road = HILARIOUS!
Wow Charlie!! You amaze me! AC was soooo much fun!!!
@Mary - do not put such evil thoughts in Charlie's mind. NO SNC basses should EVER be permitted to perform a Josh Turner song. Can you even imagine what that would do to us?
Big Band - Atlantic City: Charlie and Rome were outstanding in their duet/dance! They are the definition of fine and fun entertainment! Love that bass voice - always! I am still hoping we can get Charlie to do a Josh Turner song some day.... #wishlist
His chocolate brown eyes, wonderful sense of humor, and loving personality:) (i could go on)
After watching a couple of clips from the new Harrah's show I'm, um, feeling extra love for Charlie. :) I am, as always, incredibly impressed with his versatility. Among other things.
Love your big band performance, Charlie!! I've watched the clip at least 5X already lol. #basslove
i, too, love the interaction that always goes on between Charlie and Seggie. They are so much fun to watch ..um..because they are great performers. Why? What else did you think i would say? Sheesh people.
Kristin, you are so right! Charlie is just awesome! I love his sense of humor and positive attitude. You can tell that he has to be so much fun to be around.
I love when Charlie gets cracked up in Gettysburg during Lion Sleeps Tonight. Seggie is acting like he is putting Hayden down for a nap and Charlie starts to lose it because Seggie is hilarious. I love how Charlie and Seggie interact/misbehave/have a good time while they perform.
Of course if the whole show was just Charlie walking out on the stage singing dom-de-dom and standing there smiling it would be worth the price of the ticket.
#dontjudgeyouknowyou wouldbuythetickettoo
How are so many days passing with no posts on here? We know Charlie is a humble guy who really doesn't NEED all this attention and gushing, but he must know that *some* of us restrain ourselves from posting on this thread multiple times per day. Or per hour. Am I right? Hello?
