    Kelli's Quest for the Cruise!!
    Hello fellow Chasers!
As most of you know, I am not going on the Chaser Cruise and it sucks...considering I am "CruiserKelli" and all. There are several reasons that I gave as to why I'm not going...it's way too expensive; I don't fly, so getting to Miami is tough; I can't get the time off from work and I don't like Carnival cruise line. But the more time goes by and the more my SNC withdrawal kicks in...the more I want to go on the cruise....so I have come up with an idea to get the 2 things in life that I want more than anything...to go on Chaser Cruise 2012 and to get healthy.
I figured out a way to use one thing (the cruise) to get the other thing (my health)...I'm writing to tell you of my Quest for the Cruise! For me, getting healthy means needing to lose 200 pounds...no small feat. So I have pledged to my family that I am going to lose 50 pounds by the end of July and WHEN I do (and not one day or one pound sooner), I am booking a cabin on the Chaser Cruise! I am using the end of July as my target because it's before final payment is due so I'm hoping there will still be space available and it gives me 29 weeks to do it (a healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week). I recommitted myself to Weight Watchers last week and I've already lost 2.2 pounds! I'm right on schedule! My hope is that once I add in the exercise that I will hit my 50 pound goal sooner than the end of July....because the sooner I hit it....the sooner I book it!! AND I WILL HIT THE 50 POUND GOAL AND I WILL BE ON THE CHASER CRUISE!!!! I even spoke to my boss about the time off already!
I am so excited and fired up! I've done really well on WW before, I lost 59.8 pounds a few years ago but had a few life altering things happen and I gained most of the weight back. I know that for me, I need something to shoot for; something important to have as a goal and right now, the cruise is that important to me and I know that it will be the catalyst to push me to be successful. So....I am going to post updates on here and on Facebook and stay accountable and I can't wait to see my SNC family on the cruise!!
P.S. - Dear SNC....please come up with another awesome incentive for my next three 50 pound short term goal markers!!  I know with SNC, I can do ANYTHING!!!

Don't get disheartened Kelli. It's still a move in the right direction. You can and will do this.

Lisa N.'s picture

Kelli - .4 pounds is still headed in the right direction. 13 lbs. is more than one fifth of the way there and you just started a couple of weeks ago. You can do thi....we can do this!

cruiserkelli's picture

Kinda disappointed in the weight loss today. Only down .4 for a total of 13 pounds. Good news is, I am had a great conversation with Ryan Blanck today and I'm totally psyched about the future of my weight loss efforts!! He's helping me get my activity level up so I can get my weight down! I'm gonna make my goal and get on that cruise! Ed's buying us a new treadmill that we will hopefully pick up tomorrow and that'll help too!

Kelli, I have been following your wonderful progress. You have inspired me to go back to WW and lose 50 pounds by the cruise. I will be starting WW on Saturday. I was a member several years ago and did really well on the program losing 70 pounds. However, I slowly slipped away from WW as I met my husband, got married, and then pregnant; gaining a little more then half the weight back. I am looking forward to meeting you on the cruise in October so that we can celebrate our successes together.

Kelli, I hope everything is going well. It sounds like it is! I'm trying to get healthier too but there's no cruise for me. I can't justify the cost. I have a friend who is also doing Weight Watchers. She seems to be doing well too! Those little snack bars are tasty :) Keep up the good work.

Kelli, I'm so sorry that the doctor was inexcusably cold to you. I'm so glad that you have support from SNC and from all us Chasers though! We're behind you all the way :) And, there's just another reason why I love SNC so much. How sweet of Randy to send this story to Ryan to give you a helping hand! They're so sweet and caring for their fans!

Kelli.... what an awful experience for you. I am so sorry you ran into such a horrible person especially at a time when you needed someone to be optimistic for you and what you hoped would be your upcoming family. I can relate a little bit with the horrible doctor situation. When I was first pregnant with my son, I went for my first doctor's appointment. My doctor's office was a "Doctor's Group" so you could get any one of 3 doctors on a rotation. My first OB appointment was not with my regular doctor, but with one of the others in the group. I filled out the obligatory paperwork, one of the questions being "Are you about this pregnancy?"... I circled "YES" about 7 times. Went back to the exam room and after her doing an "internal sonogram" she coldly informs me that I either a) am not as far along as I thought I was, or b) have miscarried. Come to find out that apparently my very healthy son, just took a little longer to start cooking than other babies. Needless to say, I specifically told them I didn't want to see her again.

I am very happy for you and the weight you have lost this far and how determined you are to keep losing. Congrats to you and keep losing!!!

Lisa N.'s picture

Oh, Kelli, thanks for sharing your story. I am very encouraged by you. Everyday comes with its own struggles but we can do this. One pound at a time - they will add up...or actually down! You are an inspiration and I can't wait to meet you on the ship! :)

Thanks everyone!! I am so blessed...I don't think I can say that enough. I never imagined how much my life would change when I found that PBS special flipping channels on vacation 2 years ago! I've made the most amazing friends and have found the motivation I've been lacking for a long time. I started this journey back in 2004 and my goal back then was to get pregnant. Ed and I had been married for 2 years, first time marriage for both of us and neither of us had kids so time was ticking...I was 42.

After losing about 50 pounds I went to a fertility doctor...supposedly one of the best in the area according to Philadelphia Magazine. I had just turned 43 and I was feeling healthy and confident. She was awful...first she was an hour and a half late for my appointment (while I waited in the lobby, I heard her office staff repeatedly calling her cell phone to tell her she had appointments waiting. She was shopping...very unprofessional.) and she never apologized for her lateness. She then asked me "how old are you?" and I replied "43 or how about a late 42...I just turned 43 a couple weeks ago"...I laughed...she didn't. Then she said this..."why did you wait so long to try to get pregnant?"...wow...really?? My reply, "because my parents raised me right and I believe in marriage before children...I can't help it that I didn't meet my husband until I was 38." She then made a few comments about my weight, I proudly told her about my 50 pound loss...she wasn't impressed. She then handed me a telephone book sized pile of papers with support group information; ran a few tests and sent me on my way. I went home, cried and after getting nowhere further with her...gave up. Then one of my closest friends got pancreatic cancer and she couldn't eat...so I did. The weight crept back on and I was powerless to stop it...until now.

I can't say thanks enough to everyone for their support...it is truly the best motivation I could ask for! I won't let you down!

Kelli, I know you can do this! You are inspiring the rest of us! And Randy is so classy and cool to email this to their trainer, Ryan Blanck! I fall more in love with the amazing men of SNC every day. I am also impressed with Ryan Blanck contacting you!

I too, am on a journey to get fit this year, and just ran my first 10K yesterday, with a half marathon in my sights for the end of April in OKC. I am going to be thinking of you each mile that I train, OK? Good luck!

Kerri_2's picture

you can do this!

yarp24's picture

Wow! That's a testament to how much the guys care about us! You can do this Kelli! It's the small things like this that proves Randy, and all the guys are genuine and are just true gentleman. Who else would go out if their way to see a fan make a goal to go on vacation with them? Thank you once again for proving that even with your success, you care about us! It's great knowing we mean that much to you as you all do to us! :)

Lisa N.'s picture

WOW! Randy passing this to Ryan Blanck is just one more testament to the type of classy wonderful guys SNC are. I am sure Ryan Blanck is that same caliber after reading his post - so inspiring! There is gonna be one big exciting celebration on the cruise for you, Kelli. YOU CAN DO THIS! You are an inspiration to us all!

TraciP's picture

As if we don't have enough reasons to adore Randy? That is awesome! I can't wait to se your pictures from the cruise, Kelli! =]

cruiserkelli's picture

WOW!!!! I have no words!! I am humbled and amazed that Randy shared my story with Ryan Blanck! How in the world can I fail now?? For no other reason than to make the guys in SNC proud of me, I will continue this journey all the way to my WW goal weight of 142 pounds. It will be a 200+ pound journey but I am so psyched!! I'll be contacting Ryan right now!! WOW!!!! SNC has changed my life in more ways than I can count!!

GML's picture

I'm pulling for you Kelli!! I've been wondering how it was going for you - so glad you posted the update!!
