    Kelli's Quest for the Cruise!!
    Hello fellow Chasers!
As most of you know, I am not going on the Chaser Cruise and it sucks...considering I am "CruiserKelli" and all. There are several reasons that I gave as to why I'm not going...it's way too expensive; I don't fly, so getting to Miami is tough; I can't get the time off from work and I don't like Carnival cruise line. But the more time goes by and the more my SNC withdrawal kicks in...the more I want to go on the cruise....so I have come up with an idea to get the 2 things in life that I want more than anything...to go on Chaser Cruise 2012 and to get healthy.
I figured out a way to use one thing (the cruise) to get the other thing (my health)...I'm writing to tell you of my Quest for the Cruise! For me, getting healthy means needing to lose 200 pounds...no small feat. So I have pledged to my family that I am going to lose 50 pounds by the end of July and WHEN I do (and not one day or one pound sooner), I am booking a cabin on the Chaser Cruise! I am using the end of July as my target because it's before final payment is due so I'm hoping there will still be space available and it gives me 29 weeks to do it (a healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week). I recommitted myself to Weight Watchers last week and I've already lost 2.2 pounds! I'm right on schedule! My hope is that once I add in the exercise that I will hit my 50 pound goal sooner than the end of July....because the sooner I hit it....the sooner I book it!! AND I WILL HIT THE 50 POUND GOAL AND I WILL BE ON THE CHASER CRUISE!!!! I even spoke to my boss about the time off already!
I am so excited and fired up! I've done really well on WW before, I lost 59.8 pounds a few years ago but had a few life altering things happen and I gained most of the weight back. I know that for me, I need something to shoot for; something important to have as a goal and right now, the cruise is that important to me and I know that it will be the catalyst to push me to be successful. So....I am going to post updates on here and on Facebook and stay accountable and I can't wait to see my SNC family on the cruise!!
P.S. - Dear SNC....please come up with another awesome incentive for my next three 50 pound short term goal markers!!  I know with SNC, I can do ANYTHING!!!

So, I woke up on March 31st and just felt like walking. Since that day I've been walking 3 miles a day! :) I had a relaxing Spring Break and enjoyed a few dinners during my town's Restaurant Week. Looks like all of the walking has paid off. I lost another 4.2 pounds this week, bringing me to a total of 20.4 altogether. :) Have a GREAT week, everyone! :) My motto has been, "One Day At A Time!!!".

Hey everyone! Glad to see the discussion is back! :) I couldn't find it after the upgrade to the site.

As for me, after five weeks, I've lost a total of 16.2 pounds. :) Thanks Kelli, and everyone else, for the support and encouragement. :)

Here's to a GREAT week! :)

Kelli -

What a great goal you've chosen. Seeing everyone participating is so inspiring. Good luck to you and everyone to make your goals.

I'm working on a few pounds myself, through a combination of eating right (lean protein, greens, greek yogurt, and apples - lots of apples...), power walking every day, and Reformer classes twice a week. It seems to be working, as I was able to wear a cute summery dress to the concerts last week/end here in CO. I need to add the gym back into the mix too.

Congrats Kelli..... you are doing amazing and I know you will reach your goal and be able to book that cruise! My family is going to start getting more active now that the weather is improving. My bf and I both need to lose weight as well as my son needs to slim down a little bit. I have suggested to both of the men in my life that we should start doing some weekend hiking around the Baltimore area just to burn off some calories. They both seem up for it so we will just have to see how it goes. Unfortunetly, my finances are not at a point that affords me the opportunity to join a gym just yet so I have to look for the free workout opportunities and of course since I don't get home from work until after 5, I also have to look at the "safe" choices (i.e. Not going for a walk after dark). I am determined to lose some weight.... according to the charts, in order to be my "ideal" weight, I would need to lose around 100 lbs. I don't think I need to lose that much however, I would be perfectly happy with 75 lbs lost or even a little less as long as what is there is muscle and not fat.
Once again, congrats to you Kelli!!! Keep strong!

Yippee!! I have 2 reasons to celebrate today....the first is MY "Quest For The Cruise" discussion is back!! Yay!! Second is....I lost 4.8 pounds this week for a total of 20.2!!! I still have 16 weeks until my end of July deadline so if I can just average 2 pounds a week, I will make my goal and book the cruise!! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT, CHEERING AND LOVE....it means EVERYTHING to me!!! And for those of you also doing a weight loss quest of your own...keep it up and stay strong when you have a bad week...just keep getting up whenever you fall and we can all get this done!! Hugs to you all!!!

Congrats, ladies! You are all making fantastic progress! Your dedication is absolutely amazing :)

Awesome work everyone that is losing weight. I weighed myself again two nights ago and I'm down a total of 17 pounds since the first week of January. So surprised that I'm losing this much and I'm not killing myself with exercise (yet). I stopped drinking all sodas and have cut back big time on the salt and sugar intake. I've started to replace wheat breads with quinoa too so that definitely is helping.

@Tootsie79 - Kudos, for you lady! That is fantastic!!!

Kelli, and everyone else - keep up the great work! I "hear" if you persevere, it *will* come off!! (I don't know, 'cause I can't wait that long, personally!, it seems!!)

Keli, you can do it. I do a weekly pilates class. A woman who used to be in in it is in her mid 50's if not her 60's and lost over 90 pounds and has kept it all off.

For those of you eating wheat, lose the wheat and the weight will come off faster. Don't pay attention to anything that calls the Paleo diet healthy, because it's incredibly UNHEALTHY! Also keep in mind each day we gain and lose two pounds naturally.

I'm bound and determined to get down to my normal size before May for graduation and then my sister's wedding. It's not that I need to lose a lot, but it's where it is that just makes it look worse. It's all around the mid section.

Everyone is doing great! I am down 70 lbs since I started my diet back in November. The last month has been the roughest with my Dad being n the hospital, then nursing home and now the VA, haven't eaten right at all. Trying now to get back on track as Dad is in the VA and we don't have to worry about him as much as if he was in the nursing home. He fell out of bed there three times, the last time he fractured his pelvic bone. After the third time they finally put mats on the floor by his bed so he wouldn't get hurt. Now if they had done that after the first time he might not have had the break and been in pain. Keep up the great work everyone!!!!!

Laughing Cow light Swiss, apples, bananas, romaine, pepper slices, grape tomatoes...so not like our usual vacation food. Piggly Wiggly has no WW brand foods...oh well, we WILL survive! Hate Carnival Cruises but love SNC!!!

Jennifer!!!!! That is soooooo AWESOME!!!! I love hearing big numbers like that. I wish I could have a couple big numbers, it would get me to my 50 pound mark earlier than July. I don't know if it's the peri-menopausal thing (I will be 49 years old in a couple of weeks) but I am losing much slower than I ever did before. It's frustrating because I've never stuck to it as completely as I am now. Oh well...I will just keep plugging along. Congrats again....I am soooo very proud of you!! It's nice that you have your family involved...my mom is doing it with me too so it helps....especially since we are here on vacation together. We bought all WW friendly stuff at the grocery store here yesterday and tonight for dinner we are having boneless, skinless chicken breast with baked potatoes and broccoli. Tomorrow night, turkey meatloaf muffins, baked potato and broccoli. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll check back soon!! So proud!!! Keep up the great work!!!

I lost 5 pounds this week and a total of 11.6 pounds. As happy as I am about that I am even happier that my sister called me 15 minutes before I walked out the door to see if I would pick her up because her car was in the shop. She ended up going with me to the meeting as a visitor and by the end joined WW. She has lost 63 pounds on her own but was looking for something more to keep her going. My mom came over this afternoon and we were telling her about the program and she is going to go with us next week. I have one more sister...maybe in the next couple of weeks we can get her going too.

yarp24's picture

Good job, Kelli! Keep up the great work while on vacation. You can do this! :)

mama2josh23's picture

Congrats Kelli..... you will be booking that cruise before you know it! :)

CailinAingeal's picture

Yay!!! .8 two days early is a great loss. I am so happy to hear you will be able to go to a meeting while you are on vacation. It is so easy to get into the mindset that you can let your good habits fall to the side because you are on vacation and going to enjoy yourself. But you have planned to stick with the plan and still have a great time!!!

cruiserkelli's picture

My "Quest for the Cruise" Update....had to get weighed in 2 days early because we leave for our vacation tomorrow. We are going to Hilton Head, SC and will be back next Saturday, the 24th. Usually when I weigh in early I gain, but this week I lost .8 for a total of 16.4 down and 33.6 to go!! I have already scoped out a WW meeting in Hilton Head and there is one on Thursday morning, which is perfect since my normal weigh in day is either Thursday or Friday (depending on what day of the week I'm off from work). We will be weighing in on vacation and I'm even packing all my WW tools to take with me...my food scale, measuring cups and spoons and my low point Turkey Meatloaf Muffins and a pack of the WW whole wheat rolls. I plan on losing weight on my vacation this time around...no time for playing or slacking off....must make my 50 pound goal ASAP!!!

I will have my laptop so I'll be able to keep in touch with you all while I'm away. We will be driving there so if I get bored in the car, you'll see me on Twitter! Have a good week and Jennifer, I will be waiting to hear how your weigh-in goes this week...good luck!!

Nesa's picture

Way to go, Tara!

CailinAingeal's picture

Yay Tara!!!! :o) Are you exercising too? Make sure to keep drinking your water and that will help with the extra sodium.

Tara Marie Ahn's picture

Hey Sandi! Thank you for your message!!! I really appreciate it!!! :)

Laura, I think that's a GREAT idea. I will DEFINITELY be walking around KKV after our lunch! :)

I'm VERY happy to say that I had another great week! I lost 4.6 lbs.!!! :) I truly was surprised as this was a high sodium week for me. However, I'm really, really pleased! Thanks to everyone for their encouragement!!! Kelli, I am sure you will do GREAT over vacation!!! :)

sandiracerqueen3's picture

Good job Jennifer!

sandiracerqueen3's picture

Oh, and Kelli too, but I tell her that every day....sometimes twice a day....you know how mothers are!!!
Tara knows I'm proud of her, I sent her a message!

cruiserkelli's picture

Jennifer!!!!! That is an AMAZING first week!! Way to go!! I'm so proud of you! Keep that momentum going!

Nesa.....thanks again for your support and encouragement!

Nesa's picture

Yeah, Jennifer! That's so awesome! Rooting for you ladies all the time!

CailinAingeal's picture

I just got back from my first week's weight-in. I decided to weight a day early since I will be out of town on a chorus retreat this weekend. I am down 6.6 pounds. :o) I am so excited I am boucing off the walls....hmmm, wonder if I get activity points for that? I have already made sure the resort has a gym and we are taking food for most of our meals...packed lots of good stuff.

Nesa's picture

Way to be dedicated, Kelli! I really admire your strength and determination in this! All your hard work WILL pay off and you WILL be on that cruise ship! I just know it!

cruiserkelli's picture

Okay...this was a good week...finally. I am down another 2.6 pounds for a total of 15.6. I still have 19 more weeks until the end of July (the deadline I set for myself) and I have 34.4 pounds to go. It is do-able but not without alot of hard work and determination...I'm giving it my all and I really hope to get it done sooner than the end of July...the sooner I hit 50 pounds then sooner I can book the cruise.

Next week, we leave on vacation so I will be weighing in early...on Wednesday and we will be weighing in during vacation. There is a Weight Watchers meeting in Hilton Head and we will be attending and getting on the scale so....no excuses and no fooling around...not even on vacation. That is so not like me...lol...normally vacation is party time for me where food is concerned. It's all about one great meal after another and one great restaurant after another...but not this time. We are cooking and eating in for most meals. I even made a double batch of my Turkey Meatloaf Muffins and threw them in the freezer to take with us...I am prepared!

I'll check in again before I leave for vacation and I'll have my computer with me so I can see how all of you are doing....hope you all are having a good week!!

cruiserkelli's picture

Thanks Nesa!!

Laura...that's a fun idea (not...lol...I'm not ready for the gym yet). I know that I need to learn that it's the fellowship of the MAC lunches that's important and not make the food important. That's my problem...I tend to get all caught up in the yummyness on the menu and have a little party with that....lol. I need to focus on the people and forget about the food. If I could do that in all situations, I'd have this food thing beat! I am looking forward to seeing everyone after the long winter months and I could care less about the food! I can't wait to see my MAC family!!!

laura_9's picture

So i'm thinking maybe the MAC's should stop having our meetings at food places and have it at a gym...! LOL or at least a LONG walk afterwards??? At least four of us are on a get ready for the cruise weigh down! Way to go Kelli and Tara!!! Love ya!!

Nesa's picture

Totally cheering for you girls! I know you'll meet your goals! :D
