    Kelli's Quest for the Cruise!!
    Hello fellow Chasers!
As most of you know, I am not going on the Chaser Cruise and it sucks...considering I am "CruiserKelli" and all. There are several reasons that I gave as to why I'm not going...it's way too expensive; I don't fly, so getting to Miami is tough; I can't get the time off from work and I don't like Carnival cruise line. But the more time goes by and the more my SNC withdrawal kicks in...the more I want to go on the cruise....so I have come up with an idea to get the 2 things in life that I want more than anything...to go on Chaser Cruise 2012 and to get healthy.
I figured out a way to use one thing (the cruise) to get the other thing (my health)...I'm writing to tell you of my Quest for the Cruise! For me, getting healthy means needing to lose 200 pounds...no small feat. So I have pledged to my family that I am going to lose 50 pounds by the end of July and WHEN I do (and not one day or one pound sooner), I am booking a cabin on the Chaser Cruise! I am using the end of July as my target because it's before final payment is due so I'm hoping there will still be space available and it gives me 29 weeks to do it (a healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week). I recommitted myself to Weight Watchers last week and I've already lost 2.2 pounds! I'm right on schedule! My hope is that once I add in the exercise that I will hit my 50 pound goal sooner than the end of July....because the sooner I hit it....the sooner I book it!! AND I WILL HIT THE 50 POUND GOAL AND I WILL BE ON THE CHASER CRUISE!!!! I even spoke to my boss about the time off already!
I am so excited and fired up! I've done really well on WW before, I lost 59.8 pounds a few years ago but had a few life altering things happen and I gained most of the weight back. I know that for me, I need something to shoot for; something important to have as a goal and right now, the cruise is that important to me and I know that it will be the catalyst to push me to be successful. So....I am going to post updates on here and on Facebook and stay accountable and I can't wait to see my SNC family on the cruise!!
P.S. - Dear SNC....please come up with another awesome incentive for my next three 50 pound short term goal markers!!  I know with SNC, I can do ANYTHING!!!

Kelli - I am routing for you for a loss this week - I really want to meet you on the cruise. You are such an inspiration. I am on the journey too, but you are doing better than me, but I will get there. Let's do this!!!

Yay Kelli!!!!! Any loss is a good loss. I can totally understand about losing focus, last week was a little rough. Now the challenge is to stay focused while I am on vacation over the weekend. I am unable to take food with me but plan to make the best out of the choices I do have.

Thank you all for your support and to Barb (BLB Red), please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your mom. I can't imagine what you are going through...my mom is my best friend...we do everything together. I did lose my dad when I was 20 years old so I know what it is like to lose a parent. I hope that you have lots of support and that you have faith which will help you cope with your loss and allow you to know that she is in a better place. Faith will also help you to believe that someday you will see her again.

I did have a small loss when I weighed in on Thursday...I went down .4 which is better than a gain. I'll take it...I did get my butt back on the treadmill Friday also. Got to get my head back in this game...my deadline is looming! Plus, I'll be seeing the guys this Friday night...it's my first concert since Thanksgiving weekend. I was hoping to be at least 1/2 way to my goal...I may fall a couple pounds short. We'll see...I have to weigh in a couple days early this week because I will be down the shore with my mom on Thursday after work and then we come home Friday morning and leave for Reading and an SNC weekend....can't wait!!! Reading on Friday night then Newark, NJ on Saturday night. So excited...then nothing (so far) until the end of August...not liking that there is no Atlantic City on the schedule this summer. We were really spoiled for the last 2 summers. Oh well...we'll see what else comes up that we can hopefully get to. Have a good week everyone...will post Wednesday with a weigh in update.

Kelli, so sorry for the loss you and Ed are dealing with. You are right never never hold back telling those you love how wonderful and loved they are. Keep your chin up. You are doing great with weight loss. Love you. : )

Thanks for the update, Kelli! :) I hope you and Ed are doing okay. Thinking of you both! :)

I had a v. bad week. :-/ Trying to get over it, but it's proving to be difficult. One day at a time. Ugh. Frustrated.

cruiserkelli's picture

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, it's been crazy - good and bad. Last week, weigh-in fell on my birthday. I was nervous about weighing in on my birthday after having lost 4.8 pounds the week before, I figured I was almost destined to gain. Surprisingly, I lost 1.8 pounds! My total was 22.0 since January.

On my birthday we got word that Ed's (my hubby) amazing grandmother was in the hospital in ICU. She had just turned 88 four days before my birthday. I'm glad we spent time with her on her birthday...it would be the last time we'd see her.

We had Easter with my family, I did the cooking so there were no surprises for me with my food intake. I ate in moderation and tracked everything as usual. I stayed on program on my birthday and Easter.

On Tuesday, we received the devastating news that grandmom had died...Ed was overwhelmed with grief...his grandmom was more like a mom to him. Then we found out it wasn't true...one of his cousins had posted on Facebook that her grandmother had died and we assumed she meant their grandmom but it was her husbands grandmom...what a crazy, emotional day for us but we were relieved it wasn't true.

Thursday morning, weigh-in day, our phone rang and we got the news that she had died around midnight on Wednesday. This time it was true. His sweet grandmom who always made me feel loved, was gone. Went to WW to weigh in and got more bad news, I was up 1.2 pounds. I was frustrated and disappointed. I have been working really hard and gaining was not an option...lol.

I have 14 weeks until my self-imposed goal date; I need to average a 2 pound per week loss to make my goal on time. My average weight loss right now is about 1.5 pounds per week...not good enough. I am going to push myself a little harder each week to try to make my goal. Wish me luck!

Today and tomorrow we say goodbye to our sweet grandmom. Life is short kids...don't take anyone for granted...tell them you love them whenever you can!!

:) keep up the good work everyone:)

P.S. thanks for the inspiration- After 2 intense months I "graduated" PT this week and now I finally have my knee back after 3 years; I can run and kneel again without much pain:) Thank you for the inspiration to reclaim a few of the things I had written off after my knee surgery.

Tara - 3 miles a day is a great plan - keep up the great work. Too bad you aren't closer, as I'd love to take you on a power walk on the trails behind my place. We have 2 ponds, which currently include nesting pairs of Great Horned Owls and Blue Herons. We also have some nice sun out here.

I'm within 4 lbs of my first goal (don't we all have a series of goals?), and hope to achieve the 2nd goal within a couple of months. I want to wear all the +tiny+ cute clothes in my closet. Rifling through the closet is as fun as going to the mall, and considerably cheaper, eh?

So, I woke up on March 31st and just felt like walking. Since that day I've been walking 3 miles a day! :) I had a relaxing Spring Break and enjoyed a few dinners during my town's Restaurant Week. Looks like all of the walking has paid off. I lost another 4.2 pounds this week, bringing me to a total of 20.4 altogether. :) Have a GREAT week, everyone! :) My motto has been, "One Day At A Time!!!".

Hey everyone! Glad to see the discussion is back! :) I couldn't find it after the upgrade to the site.

As for me, after five weeks, I've lost a total of 16.2 pounds. :) Thanks Kelli, and everyone else, for the support and encouragement. :)

Here's to a GREAT week! :)

Kelli -

What a great goal you've chosen. Seeing everyone participating is so inspiring. Good luck to you and everyone to make your goals.

I'm working on a few pounds myself, through a combination of eating right (lean protein, greens, greek yogurt, and apples - lots of apples...), power walking every day, and Reformer classes twice a week. It seems to be working, as I was able to wear a cute summery dress to the concerts last week/end here in CO. I need to add the gym back into the mix too.

Congratulations!! Keep up the good work Kelli:) and everyone else!!

Congrats Kelli..... you are doing amazing and I know you will reach your goal and be able to book that cruise! My family is going to start getting more active now that the weather is improving. My bf and I both need to lose weight as well as my son needs to slim down a little bit. I have suggested to both of the men in my life that we should start doing some weekend hiking around the Baltimore area just to burn off some calories. They both seem up for it so we will just have to see how it goes. Unfortunetly, my finances are not at a point that affords me the opportunity to join a gym just yet so I have to look for the free workout opportunities and of course since I don't get home from work until after 5, I also have to look at the "safe" choices (i.e. Not going for a walk after dark). I am determined to lose some weight.... according to the charts, in order to be my "ideal" weight, I would need to lose around 100 lbs. I don't think I need to lose that much however, I would be perfectly happy with 75 lbs lost or even a little less as long as what is there is muscle and not fat.
Once again, congrats to you Kelli!!! Keep strong!

Yippee!! I have 2 reasons to celebrate today....the first is MY "Quest For The Cruise" discussion is back!! Yay!! Second is....I lost 4.8 pounds this week for a total of 20.2!!! I still have 16 weeks until my end of July deadline so if I can just average 2 pounds a week, I will make my goal and book the cruise!! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT, CHEERING AND LOVE....it means EVERYTHING to me!!! And for those of you also doing a weight loss quest of your own...keep it up and stay strong when you have a bad week...just keep getting up whenever you fall and we can all get this done!! Hugs to you all!!!

Congrats, ladies! You are all making fantastic progress! Your dedication is absolutely amazing :)

Awesome work everyone that is losing weight. I weighed myself again two nights ago and I'm down a total of 17 pounds since the first week of January. So surprised that I'm losing this much and I'm not killing myself with exercise (yet). I stopped drinking all sodas and have cut back big time on the salt and sugar intake. I've started to replace wheat breads with quinoa too so that definitely is helping.

@Tootsie79 - Kudos, for you lady! That is fantastic!!!

Kelli, and everyone else - keep up the great work! I "hear" if you persevere, it *will* come off!! (I don't know, 'cause I can't wait that long, personally!, it seems!!)

Hope all is well, keep up the great work everyone:)

Keli, you can do it. I do a weekly pilates class. A woman who used to be in in it is in her mid 50's if not her 60's and lost over 90 pounds and has kept it all off.

For those of you eating wheat, lose the wheat and the weight will come off faster. Don't pay attention to anything that calls the Paleo diet healthy, because it's incredibly UNHEALTHY! Also keep in mind each day we gain and lose two pounds naturally.

I'm bound and determined to get down to my normal size before May for graduation and then my sister's wedding. It's not that I need to lose a lot, but it's where it is that just makes it look worse. It's all around the mid section.

Tootsie79's picture

Everyone is doing great! I am down 70 lbs since I started my diet back in November. The last month has been the roughest with my Dad being n the hospital, then nursing home and now the VA, haven't eaten right at all. Trying now to get back on track as Dad is in the VA and we don't have to worry about him as much as if he was in the nursing home. He fell out of bed there three times, the last time he fractured his pelvic bone. After the third time they finally put mats on the floor by his bed so he wouldn't get hurt. Now if they had done that after the first time he might not have had the break and been in pain. Keep up the great work everyone!!!!!

Laughing Cow light Swiss, apples, bananas, romaine, pepper slices, grape tomatoes...so not like our usual vacation food. Piggly Wiggly has no WW brand foods...oh well, we WILL survive! Hate Carnival Cruises but love SNC!!!

Jennifer!!!!! That is soooooo AWESOME!!!! I love hearing big numbers like that. I wish I could have a couple big numbers, it would get me to my 50 pound mark earlier than July. I don't know if it's the peri-menopausal thing (I will be 49 years old in a couple of weeks) but I am losing much slower than I ever did before. It's frustrating because I've never stuck to it as completely as I am now. Oh well...I will just keep plugging along. Congrats again....I am soooo very proud of you!! It's nice that you have your family involved...my mom is doing it with me too so it helps....especially since we are here on vacation together. We bought all WW friendly stuff at the grocery store here yesterday and tonight for dinner we are having boneless, skinless chicken breast with baked potatoes and broccoli. Tomorrow night, turkey meatloaf muffins, baked potato and broccoli. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll check back soon!! So proud!!! Keep up the great work!!!

I lost 5 pounds this week and a total of 11.6 pounds. As happy as I am about that I am even happier that my sister called me 15 minutes before I walked out the door to see if I would pick her up because her car was in the shop. She ended up going with me to the meeting as a visitor and by the end joined WW. She has lost 63 pounds on her own but was looking for something more to keep her going. My mom came over this afternoon and we were telling her about the program and she is going to go with us next week. I have one more sister...maybe in the next couple of weeks we can get her going too.
