Well I first saw them this past December, and they started with Some Nights/We are Young. It gave me the goosebumps when I first heard them! But it was a very surreal moment for sure :)

Linda, you're going to have a blast! :) I've been to 3 of their "holiday" concerts and they're wonderful!!!! You're lucky they're coming to your area this year and hope that neither snow nor sleet nor rain keeps you away from their show. Have a wonderful time and enjoy the show & M&G!!! :)

For me, it was Joy to the World as well. I remember the lights going out, Walt counting out "1... 2... 1..2..3..4!" and hearing them before seeing them. In an odd way, I thought that was how it should be. Hearing before seeing. Then the lights came on as the first verse started and they were in their places, and then I was like "Nahh.. I kinda like this whole seeing part of it too!"

The suits were the shiny black ones with the untied bowties for the first half, and then the shiny black pants and shiny silver jackets for the second half.
This also brings up another question: What song closed out the first half of your first show and which song opened the second half?? The closer of the first half of my first show was Bridge Over Troubled Water (which was AMAZING!!) and the opener of the second half was Tainted Love (which was also amazing!! Blake did a fantastic job with the lighting on that one!!).

I was watching some older SNC videos on Youtube & a question related to this discussion thread came to mind- what outfits/suits were the guys wearing at your first show? I'll admit I didn't remember- I had to search for pix other people posted here at sncmusic.com. They were in (non-shiny) black suits & black ties in Nov. 2009. I would have liked to see them the following spring when they were in a mixture of outfits- some guys in suits, some in sweaters, some wearing vests.

Last song from my first AND most recent concert (they are one and the same) was O Holy Night off mic. If you check out the videos that I took from the concert, we were a super rowdy crowd, but when they started singing that song... The entire room went silent, so much so that we heard one of the event staff's walkies go off with someone asking if there needed to be a quick sound check... Lol! It was amazing!

Wow, I'm not sure I remember my first song, it was Royal Oak MI in 2009.... Seggie and Tyler had just joined up. I remember it was two weeks after I got the tickets that I saw Mike and Steve had left... I really wish I had gotten to hear them sing. Though I got to meet Mike in AC the last weekend of their first residency. I DO remember two songs which utterly blew me away in that first concert," Under The Bridge", and "O Holy Night" (off mic). OH! and I got to hear Seggie sing "Insomniac" :-)

Mine was "Joy to the World". It was a great introduction to SNC for my mom and me, because that song is kind of a joke in my family. My dad used to sing it to me, and in 1st grade, one of the teachers at recess wondered why I was singing, "And he always had some mighty fine wine." After the song, one of the guys said their line about "Clap along, but please... don't sing." My mom, aunt, and I all said together, "Too late!"

The last song of that show was the Jackson 5 Medley. They did Gaga earlier, and I remember turning to my mom and saying, "How are they going to top that... Michael Jackson?!" :D

Egads, you all are putting me to shame!!! I don't remember the last song of the first concert I went to in Vancouver, Canada in Feb. 2011. I was just so overwhelmed...these guys had me stunned! I don't remember that last song they did in Vancouver this year either, which is the last concert I attended. Maybe it's the haunted ghosts in that theater. ;) However, I do remember them singing "Up on the Roof" off-mike as the last song in Kelowna, Canada last month and all I can say is "WOW"! Permanently imprinted on my mind. BLEW. ME. AWAY. #thatisall

S- no, by Dec. 2009, Tyler & Seggie were with the group. I know this because my first show was in Nov. 2009 & I never got to see Mike & Steve perform. I'm glad I saw a couple shows with Dan before he left. The show was definitely different in 2009- they had stools and either sat in those or stood pretty still for most songs. Ryan blogged about the show I saw & said, "Two words- spinning stools" because those stools were the source of some improvised SNC comedy at that show. The first summer at Harrah's was when they started to develop more choreography, I think. The choreo is great and adds a lot to the shows, but it also makes me appreciate the unplugged encores when they get back to basics and just sing. SNC has so many all-around talents- singing, dancing, comedy- that I almost forget how their fantastic singing is what first attracted me. They make it all look so easy that I start to take it all for granted, until they unplug and send shivers down my spine with "Up on the Roof", "In the Still of the Night", or "O, Holy Night" (among others). Hey- I think that could be another discussion- "Remember Your Last Song from Your First Concert"- haha!

'fraid I have no idea. I saw them in December of 2008 in Indianapolis, and about all I knew at that point was that they were "those guys from that viral video." So glad my sister and I decided to get tickets and drag our husbands along, who ended up loving it, too. And this was before they added all the choreo and stuff. I'm not sure they did a whole lot more than stand there and sing. I do remember loving the Christmas carols, which are still my favorites. We don't get to go as often as some folks, and I do like their "regular" music, but I tend to link seeing them live with the holidays. Not a bad thing. :-) Wish I had had more of an idea who was who and would have been able to appreciate Steve and Mike I. more. Would they still have been there by Dec. of 2009?

No! My first SNC concert was here in Boulder 2 years ago yesterday.

My first SNC live song was 'Sign, Sealed, Delivered' on 4/5/10 at the Boulder Theater. It was the first song of the first show of the concert tour that year. I went to both shows, and was thrilled from the first note.

We were fortunate to have them in Boulder (with supplemental oxygen ;)) for 2 shows to kick the tour off. I got to go to both concerts. There's even a video in my profile of that song, as well as a great pic of the neon Boulder Theater marquee showing both sold out shows.

Well, Angie, if they don't, you know Seattle is just a hop, skip and a jump from Canuckland! I guarantee they'll be doing Christmas music there! ;)

Ah, so last songs too ......... Mine was "O Holy Night." Even though I was sitting in the balcony, every note could clearly be heard. I intended to record it, but once they started, I was so mesmerized that I forgot (:

Last song from my first AND most recent concert (they are one and the same) was O Holy Night off mic. If you check out the videos that I took from the concert, we were a super rowdy crowd, but when they started singing that song... The entire room went silent, so much so that we heard one of the event staff's walkies go off with someone asking if there needed to be a quick sound check... Lol! It was amazing!

Eileen- Yup I remembered it after I posted, you are right with the opener :-)

Maybe they'll do a Christmas set on the cruise! Oh, that would be heavenly...

And Carla, I'm so jealous. I've always wanted to hear O Holy Night live...but have yet to do so. Maybe someday!!!

Thank you Angie! You've always got my back! Thank you kindly! Another reason why I like Canadians so much!!! I should have thought to ask you long ago!!!! Of course you would remember!!! ;)

Karen, obviously the last song of the show in Vancouver was the Gaga medley! Unless you are counting the off mic encore - that was In The Still Of The Night. :)

Carla- it was probably "Signed, Sealed, Delivered". That was the first song when I saw them in Nov. 2009.

BLEW. ME. AWAY. #thatisall

I'd be lucky to remember the last song from the LAST concert I went to....which I'm fairly sure was "O Holy Night." Thinking "Twelve Days" was the last one at my first concert.
