    Kelli's Quest for the Cruise!!
    Hello fellow Chasers!
As most of you know, I am not going on the Chaser Cruise and it sucks...considering I am "CruiserKelli" and all. There are several reasons that I gave as to why I'm not going...it's way too expensive; I don't fly, so getting to Miami is tough; I can't get the time off from work and I don't like Carnival cruise line. But the more time goes by and the more my SNC withdrawal kicks in...the more I want to go on the cruise....so I have come up with an idea to get the 2 things in life that I want more than anything...to go on Chaser Cruise 2012 and to get healthy.
I figured out a way to use one thing (the cruise) to get the other thing (my health)...I'm writing to tell you of my Quest for the Cruise! For me, getting healthy means needing to lose 200 pounds...no small feat. So I have pledged to my family that I am going to lose 50 pounds by the end of July and WHEN I do (and not one day or one pound sooner), I am booking a cabin on the Chaser Cruise! I am using the end of July as my target because it's before final payment is due so I'm hoping there will still be space available and it gives me 29 weeks to do it (a healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week). I recommitted myself to Weight Watchers last week and I've already lost 2.2 pounds! I'm right on schedule! My hope is that once I add in the exercise that I will hit my 50 pound goal sooner than the end of July....because the sooner I hit it....the sooner I book it!! AND I WILL HIT THE 50 POUND GOAL AND I WILL BE ON THE CHASER CRUISE!!!! I even spoke to my boss about the time off already!
I am so excited and fired up! I've done really well on WW before, I lost 59.8 pounds a few years ago but had a few life altering things happen and I gained most of the weight back. I know that for me, I need something to shoot for; something important to have as a goal and right now, the cruise is that important to me and I know that it will be the catalyst to push me to be successful. So....I am going to post updates on here and on Facebook and stay accountable and I can't wait to see my SNC family on the cruise!!
P.S. - Dear SNC....please come up with another awesome incentive for my next three 50 pound short term goal markers!!  I know with SNC, I can do ANYTHING!!!

Hi Kelli I just wanted to let you know that I am totally supporting your efforts. WW according to my research and experience is the best program for weight loss. Several years back I also lost a lot of weight on the program and was able to keep it off for a long time. Unfortunately, I too had some life changing issues which attributed to some weight gain. However, I still strongly recommend it to all my friends and family.

You also have a great goal:The Chaser Cruise. It sounds like a fabulous time. I don't much care for Carnival either but I hear its a great partying cruise line.

I know you can achieve your goals with your positive attitude. This fellow Chaser wishes you the very best. Go Girl!
I am still hoping I can convince my husband to book it.

Kelli's Quest for the Cruise Update...teaser....I'll have an update later...keep watching this space!! It'll be worth the weight...oops....I mean...wait!!

amywolter's picture

yay, kelli!!! whole numbers are always nice to see!! tara, we're here for you!! you can find the wagon, you may just have some bumps in the road, we all do!!!! i'm stalled right now, but with my new encouraging chaser friend (thanks kelli!) i've got my head back in the game!!! i want to look hot for the shows i'm attending in december ;)

cruiserkelli's picture

This week's update - down another pound...yippe...another whole number...lol. Total since January, 27.2....slow and steady wins the race and goes on the cruise.

TARA - Your wagon is waiting outside...get on it!!! You can do it...I know you can. Slow and steady. One day at a time, one meal at a time. How can I help you?

Tara Marie Ahn's picture

I can't even FIND the wagon right now!!! :( Need.to.get.back.on.track. :(

cruiserkelli's picture

Yup...that was definitely us. I remember you said that as you came back to your seat after the intermission because you're husband was standing up looking for you...how funny is that?? I should have paid better attention. We'll meet soon...I'm sure of it!

amywolter's picture

okay, i think you were right next to us!! funny!! if you remember a girl getting through the aisle by saying "the front view is better than the back view" as i had my body facing towards you as i tried to get in and out of the row, then yes, we were right next to you!!!
no, i will not be at longwood gardens in august, previous plans :( BUT, i'm sure we'll meet sometime, as i think most MAC's meet eventually!!!

cruiserkelli's picture

Amy....I think you were sitting right next to us...lol. Looking at the stage, we were all the way on the right (my husband had the aisle seat) in the 3rd row. Were the people next to your husband tricked out in glow stuff and the women really loud (my mom and I just go nuts when we are at an SNC show...need to show the guys the love...lol)? If so, that was us! There were 4 of us though....my mom's hubby was probably the person sitting next to your hubby; then my mom, then me and my hubby on the aisle. Sorry you won't make this luncheon but there will be another. Will you be at Longwood Gardens in August? Maybe we'll meet there!

amywolter's picture

kelli, yes i was at reading. we probably didn't meet, because i just became a part of MAC after reading and really starting to get into the snc discussions and such. where were you sitting? after looking at your picture, i think you may have been near my husband and myself. we were on the right, 3rd row back, and there were 3 people to my husbands right and the remainder to my left.
unfortunately, i will not be able to attend the luncheon on 6/2. i work until noon in wyomissing and then i have a prior committment at the reading liederkranz (local german club), later that day and evening. kinda bummed, but hopefully we'll have another meeting/luncheon that i can attend before the concerts i'm attending in december, otherwise i guess i'll try to meet as many people as i can at the hershey and allentown late shows. i am plugging along, and i do try to switch it up, which is good, but still frustrating!! :) i'm always moving once i get home, i have a 4 year old. sometimes we play soccer, sometimes we walk, sometimes we dance, but we're always moving!!
thanks for the encouragement, and we will make our goals!

cruiserkelli's picture

Thanks Gabriella!! I appreciate the support!

Amy!!! Were you at Reading??? How did we not meet? Are you going to be at the MAC luncheon on 6/2? If so, then we'll definitely get to chat! You're doing awesome too...I totally understand your struggle with the 45-50 pound plateau (I plateaued at 59.8 pounds a few years ago and never got to 60 or beyond...just started yo-yo-ing back and forth and then gained almost all of it back). Just keep plugging along...eventually, if you keep within your point target you should be able to break that plateau. Try switching stuff up...if you eat the same thing for breakfast everyday, do something different. If you walk everyday, try doing something different...like jumping rope, or walking up and down steps or even running for a few seconds and then walking and doing that a few times...anything to shake things up. You are right...we CAN do this!!

amywolter's picture

keep going girl!! that is awesome!! i'm doing ww too, and joined about a year ago! i'm currently stuck at the 45-50lbs lost mark. i hit 51lbs about 2 months or so ago, and have just been bouncing between 45-50. i go up 1, lose .8, up 2, down 1....i've even gone back to my very first week journal and started doing exactly what i did that week! it's started to help again, but i've become kinda lazy about it, and i know i cannot be lazy!! i have about 45lbs to go, and i would love to lose it by christmas!! so, here's to us and our goals!! we can do anything!!!

cruiserkelli's picture

Okey-dokey....here is a much delayed update on my "Quest for the Cruise"...I have finally reached the 1/2 way mark. I am now down 26.2 pounds. I've been having a few rough weeks on the scale...losing each week but a fraction at a time (.2; .4; etc.)....very frustrating. This week, I finally lost a whole number, 1.4 (of course, it started with a 1...lol). I am staying the course and I'm just as focused and just as determined (although twice as frustrated...lol). I may not make my goal by the date I set but that is okay, because it really was a random date. When I set that date, I did not take into account the effect that being a peri-menopausal female would have on my efforts. I can honestly say that I have not cheated once; I've stayed on program at all times; I've tracked EVERYTHING and my losses are just so small. I know that slow and steady is the best way and once I get this 50 off...I will be okay with the fractional losses. I'm just very impatient because I set this goal and I want to reach it. I know when I did this before and wasn't as diligent the weight just fell off me...not the case now. I refuse to give up or slow down though...I will do this. I WILL make my goal before the cruise in October and hopefully by August, when I attend my next SNC show. Keep praying for me; I need all the positive vibes I can get! Love you all!!

Ok Kelli.... I will either have on a solid green shirt or a salmon colored shirt with ruffles and jeans. My son will be wearing jeans and a red/black polo shirt.... (at least that was his decision this morning. LOL) We didn't get the preshow dinner and our seats are section 108, Row S, Seats 21 and 22. I will look for you and you look for us... the poster should be a give away! We have had one at every show... ;)

cruiserkelli's picture

I'll have a pinkish blouse on that has sparkly stoney things around the collar and black pants...plus I'm trying to lose 200 pounds so I'm pretty easy to spot...lol. Plus, I just got a perm so I have short, poodle looking hair....hahaha!!!

mama2josh23's picture

I bought some glow sticks at the dollar store Wednesday night and they had these really cute things that are kind of like wands but they have like 5 (bracelet size) glow sticks coming out of a handle.... My son is SO excited about them. And seeing as most Chasers know about the glow stick thing do you really think that description is going to help me find you.... LMBO! :)

cruiserkelli's picture

Look for me mama2josh23....I'll have glow necklances, glow sticks and glow bracelets....come get some!! We'll be at the VIP dinner before the show too.

mama2josh23's picture

Congrats Kelli..... that is awesome! I will see you tonight in Reading! Just look for me, or my son (he will be holding another poster that I have made for the guys to sign).

Hey everyone! Weighed in early this week because I was going out of town yesterday, today and tomorrow. I am happy to report that I lost 2.6 pounds for a total since January of 23.8. My grand total (from my highest weight is 31.0). I am pleased with that number although of course, I was hoping for a little bit more so that I could have gotten to the halfway point of my goal of 50. I get to see the guys tonight in Reading (I am jumping out of my skin with excitement!!!) and I wanted to tell them I had lost 25 pound by now....oh well...I've ALMOST lost 25. LOL!! Well...hope to see lots of you tonight in Reading and tomorrow in Newark!!!! Til Thursday....stay safe and happy!!! Love to all....Kelli

Kelli - I am routing for you for a loss this week - I really want to meet you on the cruise. You are such an inspiration. I am on the journey too, but you are doing better than me, but I will get there. Let's do this!!!

CailinAingeal's picture

Yay Kelli!!!!! Any loss is a good loss. I can totally understand about losing focus, last week was a little rough. Now the challenge is to stay focused while I am on vacation over the weekend. I am unable to take food with me but plan to make the best out of the choices I do have.

Thank you all for your support and to Barb (BLB Red), please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your mom. I can't imagine what you are going through...my mom is my best friend...we do everything together. I did lose my dad when I was 20 years old so I know what it is like to lose a parent. I hope that you have lots of support and that you have faith which will help you cope with your loss and allow you to know that she is in a better place. Faith will also help you to believe that someday you will see her again.

I did have a small loss when I weighed in on Thursday...I went down .4 which is better than a gain. I'll take it...I did get my butt back on the treadmill Friday also. Got to get my head back in this game...my deadline is looming! Plus, I'll be seeing the guys this Friday night...it's my first concert since Thanksgiving weekend. I was hoping to be at least 1/2 way to my goal...I may fall a couple pounds short. We'll see...I have to weigh in a couple days early this week because I will be down the shore with my mom on Thursday after work and then we come home Friday morning and leave for Reading and an SNC weekend....can't wait!!! Reading on Friday night then Newark, NJ on Saturday night. So excited...then nothing (so far) until the end of August...not liking that there is no Atlantic City on the schedule this summer. We were really spoiled for the last 2 summers. Oh well...we'll see what else comes up that we can hopefully get to. Have a good week everyone...will post Wednesday with a weigh in update.

Kelli, so sorry for the loss you and Ed are dealing with. You are right never never hold back telling those you love how wonderful and loved they are. Keep your chin up. You are doing great with weight loss. Love you. : )

Tara Marie Ahn's picture

Thanks for the update, Kelli! :) I hope you and Ed are doing okay. Thinking of you both! :)

I had a v. bad week. :-/ Trying to get over it, but it's proving to be difficult. One day at a time. Ugh. Frustrated.

cruiserkelli's picture

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, it's been crazy - good and bad. Last week, weigh-in fell on my birthday. I was nervous about weighing in on my birthday after having lost 4.8 pounds the week before, I figured I was almost destined to gain. Surprisingly, I lost 1.8 pounds! My total was 22.0 since January.

On my birthday we got word that Ed's (my hubby) amazing grandmother was in the hospital in ICU. She had just turned 88 four days before my birthday. I'm glad we spent time with her on her birthday...it would be the last time we'd see her.

We had Easter with my family, I did the cooking so there were no surprises for me with my food intake. I ate in moderation and tracked everything as usual. I stayed on program on my birthday and Easter.

On Tuesday, we received the devastating news that grandmom had died...Ed was overwhelmed with grief...his grandmom was more like a mom to him. Then we found out it wasn't true...one of his cousins had posted on Facebook that her grandmother had died and we assumed she meant their grandmom but it was her husbands grandmom...what a crazy, emotional day for us but we were relieved it wasn't true.

Thursday morning, weigh-in day, our phone rang and we got the news that she had died around midnight on Wednesday. This time it was true. His sweet grandmom who always made me feel loved, was gone. Went to WW to weigh in and got more bad news, I was up 1.2 pounds. I was frustrated and disappointed. I have been working really hard and gaining was not an option...lol.

I have 14 weeks until my self-imposed goal date; I need to average a 2 pound per week loss to make my goal on time. My average weight loss right now is about 1.5 pounds per week...not good enough. I am going to push myself a little harder each week to try to make my goal. Wish me luck!

Today and tomorrow we say goodbye to our sweet grandmom. Life is short kids...don't take anyone for granted...tell them you love them whenever you can!!

-the redhead-'s picture

Tara - 3 miles a day is a great plan - keep up the great work. Too bad you aren't closer, as I'd love to take you on a power walk on the trails behind my place. We have 2 ponds, which currently include nesting pairs of Great Horned Owls and Blue Herons. We also have some nice sun out here.

I'm within 4 lbs of my first goal (don't we all have a series of goals?), and hope to achieve the 2nd goal within a couple of months. I want to wear all the +tiny+ cute clothes in my closet. Rifling through the closet is as fun as going to the mall, and considerably cheaper, eh?
