I agree the unbuttoned shirt look was hot (and I am not talking about the heat). Of course, I also thought they looked cute in the soundcheck video. In fact, I don't think I have seen them in anything that didn't look good. I wonder if they need some chasers on the wardrobe committee. Any volunteers??
Seriously, next time they do outdoors, I think they should go with something other than black. They look fantastic in black, but the black is just going to absorb all that heat making them hotter. It's one thing, if a chaser passes out from their hotness, but we don't want them passing out!
You know, after seeing the many pictures and video's from this past adventure in Gettysburg, I think I like the unbuttoned shirt look. I know it was hot, really hot in many ways, but I really like the casual look it offers. Some of you guys could have gone without the huge white "T" underneath like Mike and Jerome did. Wow!!! Love it!
Laura, I agree. That said, DaisyKary has a good point. They could do a jeans and t-shirt look for the whole show and I wouldn't mind. There are 'artists' who need a certain look to cover up their lack of talent. With these guys who are the real deal and actually have talent, I don't care what they wear. Some of it depends on what songs though and the actual venue. One look I love is that of a nice pair of jeans with a tux jacket and just a casual shirt. Or for one or two songs, it's a jersey of the local team with jeans.
I know better than to stay away this long, but sometimes it happens (and my keyboard is giving me fits right now).
Yes, the bow ties in the photo looked good, untied, but let's leave those for a calendar pic, not on stage.
Also in favor of the "change it up" vote: part suits, part more casual, although there would probably need to be something a little more than, "whew, got out of bed five minutes ago, but I threw on my jeans and plaid shirt and here I am." ;-)
klancy is more than correct to suggest they aren't able to throw money into the audience - relatively speaking - not that I would turn away if they did. ;-) And we do NOT want to give people Tom Jones ideas, Eileen!!! Sheesh.
Yes, @klancy96, it's just a thought/dream/wish. But that's okay, that's half the fun of posting here!!! Back to behaving again.......but this time I'm behaving badly!!!! ;)
Wow. Everyone has some imagination and interesting thoughts
I do hope no one is truly anticipating bow ties being thrown! Just the practical side of me has to point out it's about 50 shows during the US fall tour x 10 guys = 500 bow ties... something tells me, there's going to be no chucking of a several thousand dollars into the audeince. I'm also thinking, that doesn't jive with their shows, but hey, I could be 100% wrong (would *not* be a first in my life ;)
Just a mental picture here...the guys coming out for the first song or two in the bow ties, then tossing them out to the audience and staying with open collars for the rest of the show until intermission. Second half could be more casual perhaps.
I will now return to my regularly scheduled behavior - bwahahahahahaha!
I'm torn. I love the suit & regular tie look (especially the ones from the tour before last. Skinny red ties with the suits, especially with the sleeves rolled up -- totally Miami Vice! Very Cool!). They're classy & professional. Although, I do like the dress/casual idea. Can't get a good show if their not comfy, can we? But I also like the idea of the guys tossing out the bows to us. Overall, I guess I'm more no tie than bow tie.
As long as no one starts throwing clothing back AT the stage... I suppose making a reference to singer Tom Jones would be pretty "old school" for many Chasers...
Laura's comment is awesome. I agree! The suits set our guys apart from the (questionably dressed) crowd! I did like the mixed sweaters/vests look that they sported a few times, too. The decade costumes for the Harrah's shows were good, too. LOL @ the rolled up jacket sleeves & turned up collars for the 80's set!
Bow ties? I'm leaning towards no. Just a little too stuffy & formal & prom-ish for me. Plus, don't the IU SNC guys wear bow ties? It seems like a step back to have the Atlantic SNC wear tuxes like they did in college.
You know guys, this is a difficult topic. On one hand, I love the casual look. One that shows that each guy is as different (personality wise) as his outfit. Lots of color and flair.
But then the suits show so much class and respect, which is what they are all about. They are spending the time and effort to look great for us. Just makes me feel even more special. And those pictures at the meet and greet! I got a couple group pictures with me and the guys and they look amazing in their suits. I think the bow tie should only go with a tux, so I say NO BOW TIE!
I do like the idea of them throwing their ties out into the audience at the end of the show. I would love to get one of those!!
@SingForMe - What a great idea to have them "throw the used bow ties out to the Chasers in the Audience"!! (hopefully they'll have their initials on them, so I'll know whose I hopefully caught!)
I think the bowtie, untied, was great for the photo, but, not so much for performance gear. I, too, like a man in a suit, but as many others have said, would also like to see them switch it up in the second half. Perhaps a more coordinated casual look (with color!), not necessarily jeans, though. I think once you start getting into the jeans territory, it can start looking too laid back and "rehearsal-ish." What's wrong with a nice dress pant and coordinated shirts, polos, etc.? Just my opinion.
I liked what they did in AC last summer. They had white tux jacket and bowtie to match the cumberbund (although they certainly don't need that) for part of the show, and then they changed the whole look. I'm all for the suits, definitely, but switching it (tie or suit) out during the show could be fun. Then I think they need to throw the used bowties out to the Chasers in the audience. :)
Oooo! Judy! Different colored ties or dress shirts under their jackets would be very fun & eye-catching! (as if they are not eye-catching enough already... ;-) )
I love all the meet and greet photos with the untied bowties - they guys look great! So glad that is how they were in my first picture!
Looks like the untied bowties are back for at least part of the fall shows!
I agree the unbuttoned shirt look was hot (and I am not talking about the heat). Of course, I also thought they looked cute in the soundcheck video. I'm totally with Klancy on the bowties!
But @klancy96, we can only dream!!

Ok, Judy - if we must behave, I suppose. I just love your idea of the varying atire. Great thought.
Ok, Eileen, I'll behave...promise ;(

I vote no on bowties for general concert attire.
I personally don't know how they don't melt with all that clothing on during the concerts!
I'm hot just watching them!
The IU boys don't always wear the tuxes, they wear black suits at some of the shows.
All right, people, I was saying what NOT to do, not trying to give anyone any zany ideas! Let's all just remember that our SNC guys are CLASSY! :)
Oh Eileen, what a visual!!! LMBSO! (and I totally remember Tom Jones, too!)
Eileen - Thanks,,,,,,,,,I think :o)
lol
I so remember Tom Jones, Eileen and what a riot flying clothes could be! Literally!

OK, so we are all agreed then? No bow ties unless they are thrown to the audience? ;o

Dave. Is. A. Goober.
It had to be said.

@Julie - So well stated!

Okay I am with Judy on this one, suits are wonderful but let the guys be comfortable and let them bring out their own personality to it.

Shaina - glad I can assist in your higher education :o)
