    Chaserville - Population - US!

I didn't realize how large Chaserville really is until I found another Chaser on Facebook. (I haven't even friended everyone I've "talked" to from here!) It got me to thinkin'..... how did everyone get here?

    For me... um......

I believe I was traveling Itkoff Interstate and turned on to Steve Morgan Street and now I'm completely lost around Lake Luginbill. I pulled up to Trepp Tavern and ordered their famous drink, the "Jerome Collins". I cannot tell you just how delicious it is! I couldn't just leave, especially since drinking and driving are a no-no, so I checked out Nottingham Estates. It is quite lovely and the resident DR is fabulous! Mt. Ahlwardt, "(pronounced All-wert)", makes an amazing backdrop to this incredible place. 'In the still of the night' you can hear the soothing sounds of Walter Falls as it trickles into Stine Stream just below Ponce Pass. With all this wandering I managed to get a Charlie horse.... sorry, a horse named Charlie. He's quite the stud! So I decided to take up residency in this village off the beaten path. I enjoy Lake Luginbill so much, I got a houseboat! I can kick my feet up, relax, and catch up on some Seggs in the City..... I tell ya, it's a little bit of heaven on earth!

My apologies.... after doing the dishes I realized I probably should add that I'm interested in knowing how/when/why/where any Chaser who cares to tell in which ever fashion he/she/they choose to came to be adoring fans of Straight No Chaser.

Hmm..... property for sale of Itkoff Interstate, and near a hospital no less....

I wish I could have seen him perform live with SNC..... Time for some "SNC Therapy"....

It's a good thing I'm near a hospital.... I'm so "Off Balance" ;)

Just found out there will be a private preshow M&G....

As far as I know, both are still done. The only reasons they wouldn't do it is, like they've said, safety & time.

Gina,
It was 2 years ago so I'm not sure if they still do it.It was a small room sort of back stage and the guys were standing around. There were maybe 20 people altogether who did it but you went through just with whoever was with you. I remember Mike was the first one to introduce himself and shook my hand. I barely knew who they were at that point.
They had their people taking pictures to post to the web site. You could only stay a couple of minutes . I mean it's not like we had drinks or anything! Also I knew about this M&G when I bought the tickets so if you haven't heard anything it probably isn't done anymore :( But they still do the M&G after the show so that's just as good!!

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that in my quest to have all things SNC: in the early part of 2010,after tracking across states to find out which PBS stations were offering the videos (both versions), I became a member of both the Chicago and Tacoma PBS stations( I live in PA) to obtain those elusive videos. I spent WEEKS trying to straighten out a certain intern at the Tacoma station( after emailing her to be certain that indeed they were offering the Christmas version) and in the process struck up a correspondence with Chaser Julie who went thru the same thing(only she got her video before me and I ordered it before her, how fair is that?) And then SNC released the video with there Christmas gift pack!!!! We Chasers know how to get what we want.

As a part of my job working with one student in particular last year I had to attend music class and the music teacher had just seen SNC in concert. She played "12 Days of Christmas" and the "Christmas Can Can" for the kids while describing the performance. I had to have her write the group's name down for me so I could look them up at home! Since then I've introduced most of my friends to their music, too.

SNC groupie - Woohoo for you! I am so jealous, but so happy for you! Would that I could make the taping of the new PBS special!

So I need to understand this..... because you purchased tickets thru the special, you got to attend a PRIVATE M&G BEFORE the show?!?! This is how I got my tickets to my first show in December! What to expect!?!?!

Oh, and thanks for sharing!

So it was December of 2009 and at the end of the evening news with Charlie Gibson he started talking about this acapella group and how their video went viral on YouTube. My daughter walked intot he kitchen and said "oh yeah.I've seen that video. It's really cute". Fast forward to me at the computer watching the video ( maybe 10-12 times) and now I'm hooked.Fast forward a few days later and my husband says " there's something on PBS about that group that you like and I think you can get tickets to see them". So I watched the show, made a pledge to WLIW in Long Island ( I live in New Jersey do it's not even my local PBS station) and got 2 tickets to see them at the Nokia theater in NYC with a private before the show M&G. I was so uninformed I didn't even know about the after show M&G. The rest is history. I've seen them 7 times already and have tickets for 4 more shows this year including the PBS taping on Aug 17th, so I guess I've come full circle:)

Laura - When they sang, their music touched your heart and kissed your soul.......... mine too!

oh how did i get here. Honestly i cannot remember...Either i found their YouTube video or someone sent it to me at work. Then i shared it with my family and some friends (Ruthie to name one). They watched it and loved it. Then Ruthie found out more about SNC and this site and we went to a concert together last May. And then i fell hard and fast for them. THEN we went to a concert in Reading and i was totally smitten (to the point of tears) with their music....afterwhich i really realized they were so handsome and charming and witty...but the music fed my soul first. Now i am a full-blown Chaser with fading filters and total school girl crushes on 10 men who can sing a bit.

In the meantime, i met a WHOLE bunch of Chasers at Hershey and fell in love with them as well and now i feel so blessed and well..hard to explain how Chasers have helped me...changed me...enriched my life. i am so grateful for every friendship, every laugh, every POG, every swoon, every broken filter and every single man of SNC (though you all know there are a few that make my head spin).

So that's my story, and i'm sticking to it.!

Kathleen! Thanks for sharing a great story!! Center city would be an understatement! 16 tickets!?! That's some crazy love right there! Their going to be filming another PBS special on August 17th in AC..... you might could move your trip up a skosh? Would love to see as many Chasers in the audience as possible!

Brilliant, Gina!!!! I do believe Mt Ahlwardt may erupt in jealousy over your clever banter.
I stumbled into the outskirts of Chaserville via hubby's coworker telling him to check out the viral 12 days back in December of 2009. Then somehow, somewhere in my peripheral vision on facebook, I saw an ad that SNC was performing in Lansdowne, PA in April 2010. After that performance, I packed all my belongings and moved to center city Chaserville. As soon as the fall 2010 tour list came out, I immediately bought total of 16 tix for 3 different concerts without even having any one to go with at that point or having told hubby that I did this. Fortunately with the guys being so brilliant, I had no trouble having each ticket used by very appreciative listeners..I only got to see 4 concerts last year, but have lived vicariously through all the other wonderful residents of Chaserville who post pix, videos and stories of their shenanigans. I thought I would only see one conceert this year in November, but very sneakily talked my loving hubby into letting me out of his sight Labor day weekend for 2 shows at AC. Welcome to Chaserville..almost all my facebook friends live in Chaserville..They are amazing!!!

Thanks, Kary! But what about your story.... stories?!

Dottie is simply awesome! She even has her own love thread!!!

laura_9's picture

Gina...that was truly creative and FUN!!

ngj3's picture

So, ladies, I think Miss Dottie has some explaining to do! I was looking forward to meeting her someday, but now I'm a little concerned..... I wonder what she will have to say for herself? ;)

"Bada bing, bada bang!" - love it!

Yeah, my hear..., ahem, car went 'bada boom" at, uh, Lake Luginbill.... No repair shop around to fix it! Oh, darn.... ;)

KristinC's picture

Dottie is to blame for all of this. No, seriously, I never experienced the "12 Days" phenomenon with SNC. I heard the Christmas Can-Can on XM radio in 2009 and made sure to take note of who sang it. Bought the album, loved it, listened to it during Christmas then put it away. A few months later I randomly checked this site and saw they were going to be close by me in Charlottesville, VA. I figured it would be a good show, so I bought tickets and saw them on 11/22/10. Blew me completely away, and I had no idea they did the meet & greets afterward - bonus! I guess I became a full-fledged Chaser a couple months after that. Then I met Dottie. The End.

Karen the Pyr Lover's picture

Gina, I heard the "12 days of Christmas" on a local radio station. I dug around to find out who those guys were because I thought it was just hilarious! Eventually found out who they were. Checked out the site once or twice, but didn't go much further. But, for some reason, they stuck in my mind. Went back to the site, saw they were coming to Vancouver, BC and got tickets. Then Dottie sucked me in! Bada bing bada bang!

ngj3's picture

Dottie - Hard pressed or not, I wanna hear aaallll about it! And nothing you do is "blah"!

Dave - Sorry about the milk!

Karen - So vague! "Exactly" how did you stumble upon the marvelous musicality of these men? Pray tell! No blaming Dottie or Carla on this.... it's all Randy's fault! God bless him!

Kayzie - When it's fresh in your mind - post! Saw the photos, would love to hear how it all started for you!

Karen the Pyr Lover's picture

This is awesome Gina!!! I think for many of us, we stumbled upon SNC one way or another, then stumbled upon this website, then Dottie sucked us in!!! :)

Brilliant.
