Did anyone else see the group "Out of the Blue" appearing on Britain's Got Talent in Week 3 (It is available on You Tube). They are a group of boys from Oxford University. It seems to me that they just watched videos of SNC and copied what they do and hoped that as SNC aren't that well know in the UK yet they could do it. Just wondered what everyone else thinks.

Hey Claire!
I don't really think that they're a "copy cat group," in my opinion. There are a TON of groups here in the USA that also sing a cappella in this same style, and SNC isn't by any means the originators of this type of music and performance. Of course, they're not all as GREAT as SNC is (they're definitely hard to beat!), but there are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of groups just like SNC out there. Many colleges and universities here in the States have a group (or two or three, maybe even more!). I'm a student at the University of Southern California, and we have a group that was actually modeled after Straight No Chaser back when the group was still only at Indiana University called the Trojan Men, along with six other groups!
I think that Out of the Blue is a pretty good group, but SNC definitely has the edge since they've been doing this for quite a while! I wouldn't worry; OOTB's got nothing on our guys!

Hi Laura I think they could do alright in the UK. They don't stand up to SNC's standard obviously. It just bothered me a little bit that it seemed pretty obvious to anyone whose seen SNC that Out of The Blue are copying their act and are selling themselves as a unique act. I just don't want them to steal the thunder from SNC for their tour over here later in the year.
ok, one more comment on this: i think they have potential...but they need better arrangements for the music, know what i mean? It was kinda "flat" not in notes but in depth. Of course i am comparing them to SNC's maturer voices with amazing basses and baritones.
yeah, maybe a wee bit, eh? Do you think they will do well in the UK? They didn't sound too bad but i only watched one video....
