I am new to all this twitter stuff, but still found it very exciting that Straight No Chaser was trending on Thanksgiving Day. For those of you who were like me the other day, here is a definition of "trending"...
A trending topic is a word, phrase or topic that is posted (tweeted) multiple times on the social networking and microblogging service Twitter. Trending topics become popular either through a concerted effort by users or because of an event that prompts people to talk about one specific topic.[1] These topics help Twitter and their users to understand what is happening in the world.[2]
I'm thinking we could get Straight No Chaser trending again when their new PBS special airs. I know that it will be showing in Houston on December 3. Is that the date for other locations as well?
Another thing I'm not sure about (since I'm a newbie) is whether or not it needs to be keyed in as #straightnochaser. Those with twitter experience please let me know!

It looks like Straight No Chaser is going main stream they came on the radio on the way home from Christmas shopping. Has anyone else heard them come on the radio without them being there live?
I just thought of another question, Mary: Since the new special will be first airing on different days, in different parts of the country (starting on the third), would it behove the cause to set certain dates and times to get on twitter to discuss it?
MaryS - That really was exciting! The PBS station in Pittsburgh told me they will be airing the new SNC special on Dec.5th, at 12:30AM and on the 6th at 12:30PM, and daily afterwards!
I am also still new to twitter, and have been told, on separate occasions that both the hash-tag (#) and the mention of the group is tracked! It is confusing, and a very good question!!! And, will it count towards trending just using SNC?
I heard they trended worldwide, twice during the Parade! How wonderful!
Great Idea and discussion thread, Mary! Thanks!
