This came to me last night. Or should I say this morning at 2:30. So I got out of bed and just started writing. And I wanted to share. Enjoy!
Ode to Straight No Chaser
Please listen to me, while I tell you a story
About an a cappella group and all of their glory.
It started way back in ‘96,
When a great singer named Dan needed a fix.
He gathered ten frat guys so they could impress
Many a member of the opposite sex.
On I.U.’s great campus, this serenading began
With more than one handsome and talented man.
Then it happened one night, while up on stage,
These Hoosier guys sang about Christmas. 12 Days.
The crowd went wild when they heard the guys sing.
This song with a twist was just the right thing.
The concert was filmed, their story untold
Put away, but not forgotten, until they got bold.
The answer was YouTube to get the word out.
Which Randy, so smart, had known all about.
This Christmas video, a huge hit be told
Had many a viewer, from the young to the old.
Atlantic Records got word of this YouTube sensation.
And signed them all up without hesitation.
They’ve got Randy and Charlie, the basses they are,
With dimples and smiles that go very far.
These two don’t mind keeping the beat and the time
So the others may sing and let their voice shine.
The baritones, next, are made up of three.
There’s Don, the new guy, who’s singing with glee.
And Dave who is also known as DR,
Well, whoever he is, he shines like a star.
And of course there is Seggie, his beat box, so cool.
How does he do that? Did he learn that in school?
Now the tenors are next. And oh what to say!
They’ve got to get credit for hitting that “A”.
There’s a young Frankie Valli. That’s Tyler to us.
In Jersey he had his own solos - a must.
Then we have Ryan, who sings oh so sweet,
And gives all the Chasers a blog and a tweet.
And next, don’t forget there has to be Walt,
With his genius arrangements, without any fault.
Now the one with charisma, well that’s Jerome.
He’ll share a quick smile that’s shiny as chrome.
Last, but not least, is the heavenly Mike
He sings like an angel and is easy to like.
Three guys had to leave and get on with life.
Let’s not forget Steve and the other one, Mike.
The one we call Dan, who started it all
Said good bye in AC. And was done by the Fall.
They’ve made cd’s a plenty and dvd’s, few.
Twisted some old songs and wrote their own too.
SNCMUSIC.COM is their website you see.
Here they are chased by the fancy and free.
Now even with all of their fortune and fame
These men let us call them by their first name.
And yes, we all know they are really great artists,
But so far they’ve kept their lives, quite simply modest.
So put this together and who do you get?
Ten blessed, talented men all in a set.
For whom we all know there is no replacer,
Ladies and Gentlemen this is
Straight No Chaser.
Cheers,
Alexandra

I missed this before now, too. Very cute, Alex!
Well done!
Alex..this is wonderful!!! Just NOW seeing this for some strange reason...SO SORRY I've missed it before this!! Isn't it funny how SNC inspires us all in different ways??
SO very glad you're sharing this in a way we can ALL appreciate!!!
Love this - you are so creative!
Yep, it's still fun and all true! I don't know if this was your intent or not, but it seems to have a bit of a Grinchy meter to it (the book/narration of the show, not the song).
This is fabulous, Alex! I loved it! :)
Enjoying again, Alex. :-)
Thanks, everyone!! @TinaGaston I believe we *need* a love button for the guys! :) @SheriS This really did *come* to me...divinely inspired, no doubt!
Fantabulous!!!!!! and so true!

Thanks for saying what we couldn't. You are incredibly talented and this is just amazing. The guys will love reading this.
This could not be better. Yes, Tina, we need a Love button on this website.
Clever & cute!
This is awesome! I hope the guys take a minute to read it! There is no doubt this comes from the heart and says what so many of us truly feel about the men of SNC! Thanks for writing something I could never do. Love it and feel it as well!
Do we still not have a "love" button on the SNC site yet?
I am so glad I got to see this. I love it!
Thank you, Alexandra!
It did take just a *little* bit of courage to press the "post comment" after I pasted it in. I'm so happy I did. :)
Aren't you glad you gathered up your courage and posted your Ode! We love yours and all the posts. If you are an SNC fan, you come to a place of love and encouragement. Chasers have incredible models in the SNC crooners! Thank you for posting such a "special message".
You all here, at this site, are awesome! I did this for the guys, because I had to do something. Someway to give back. (I won't get into the details yet.) And, having never done anything like this before I am floored, absolutely floored by the response. Your reactions have brought tears to my eyes. So a huge thank you to all of you for such lovely comments. Now, where is that love button?! :)
I need a LOVE button. Seriously.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
LOVE IT! I'm totally picturing some music and a photo montage to back it up. Awesome job!
Where's the LOVE button?!
