    SNC Addiction

My husband introduced me to SNC through Youtube about 6 months ago. Since then, I have looked at SNC's youtube videos daily. I bought tickets and presented them to my husband so he could take me to the Lansdowne, PA concert.  I came home and immediately ordered my "With a Twist " CD along with the 2 Christmas CD's. Since they arrived 2 days ago, they are constantly playing on my CD changer. Today, I signed up to be a member  of the Chicago PBS station so that I could pick SNC's video as my gift. (and I live in Pennsylvania!!)  Starting to thnk I may be slightly addicted, but do not want a cure.  I  feel at times like a surrogate and long distance mother whose children "done good"   I could not stop smiling the entire time at the concert, I feel so proud of them for their success. And darn it, I can't believe that I am old enough to be their mom :(

I finally got my DVD!!!!!!!

SheriS's picture

Kayzie and Kathleen: On one of the other blogs here on the site, I learned there is a new item on eBay that is the Christmas DVD from PBS! The current asking price is $25. If you are interested, you might check it out! I'm looking for a DVD of SNC from their college days, but lost the last one as the price was really high.

Kathleen's picture

Thanks Kayzie for the info. I have sort of given them a deadline of 2 weeks to make it right. If I don't have my DVD from Tacoma, I will ask for my money back and try with your info to get the DVD. In the meantime, I will keep listening to the DVD I have.

Kathleen and Kayzie are definitedly dedicated Chasers. I'm glad you both got what you wanted. Both PBS CD's are great--just feel bad you had to work so hard to get them. After all this, I just hope you enjoy them! I have both and love them dearly--when nothing else is happening, you can play them and just relax and enjoy at your own pace. ENJOY LADIES!

Kathleen:
I just read you last post & I am sorrry to hear you haven't gotten the Holiday Version. After hearing all the problems people were having, I was a bit nervous about ordering. I went back on the SNC community site & found someone who had gotten one from a New Jersey Public TV station. I went to the:NJN.NET website.

Found An Email address: Audience Services@NJN public Television & Radio

I sent an email regarding the availability of THE SNC HOLIDAY DVD. I told them if they had it I would like to order it & make a contribution to their station. I received a reply with a listing of SNC projects they had available. They stated they would not be pledging for th Holiday Version but would make an exception & offer it to me. She said to call 1-800-882-6622 to place the order. I called & spoke to Vineeta Mehta & placed my order. I must have sounded pretty desperate, I kept asking her to assure me that it was THE HOLIDAY VERSION. She said they had both & she would send the Holiday Version.

To my great excitement, I received it last week. I must have sounded pretty pathetic in my email & on the phone. But I got what I wanted & now I am a happy camper for the time being.

You might want to try this & I wish you all the best. kay

Kathleen, that's really stinky. :-(

I called yesterday and I was told that the vendor again sent them the wrong DVD.
I guess you got mine...haven't been able to figure out how I ordered mine before you, got the wrong one, went through all the hassle of having them acknowledge their mistake and I still dont have mine, but you got yours ;-( If I knew for sure I could get the DVD from another station minus all the hassles, I would demand my membership back..especially as I said, I have the original email where I specifically asked if it was the Holiday version before I donated. I did however, get an apology from Inna this time acknowledging her part in this fiasco, so I am a bit mollified for now. Here's hoping I have the holiday version before Christmas this year.

ChaserJulie's picture

WOW! You should ask for your donation back! Afterall, not only is that poor customer service, but you don't even live in the same state for cryin' out loud! Boo. Hiss.

Still getting the run around and no DVD!!!

Welcome, Chaser Kerri! What day in August is your birthday? Mine is the 21st and I'll be in AC for the show! The guys are great, and this web site is a fantastic place to feed our addiction! A lot of terrific people here!!!

Hey - Kathy - did you get that DVD yet, or do we have a trip to make???

Kerri_2's picture

add me to the Chaser list...I live in NY and have seen them in NY and MA, am driving to OH for the benefit concert in October and then will see them in NY again (that same month)...and I'm working on the Harrah's angle with my husband for my 30th Bday in August! Such a great and genuinely nice group of guys with wonderful talent that takes me back to HS years...what's not to like!?

ChaserJulie's picture

Jeanette - I don't see anything wrong with four concerts. I'll be at five till the year is out. And, I have a good four hour drive to one of them. I have my room reserved already!! (Kathy, I'll be at the Nittany Lion Inn - I've always wanted to stay there!) With a Twist is in the car, and I've been listening to the Christmas tunes on my iPod! What's not to like? =)

Shout out to Chaser kayzie! Not only does SNC span the generations, their Chasers span the North American region! From eastern Pennsylvania to Seattle!!

Kathleen's picture

Jeanette,

You are not a groupie, you are a "Chaser" And I will also be going to 4 concerts this year, none in my hometown, but all in PA, furthest drive is 3 hours and worth every mile of driving to get my "fix"

Jeanette P.'s picture

Hmmm...am I an SNC addict if I'm attending a total of four concerts this year? Three of which, are here in my home town of Fresno? Their CD is constantly playing in my car now, starting and ending each day. I don't want to be seen as some kind of...gasp...groupie!

kayzie's picture

Hey Julie: No wonder I like you!! A passion for SNC & Kitty Cats. A lady with great taste. You know, I can see where SNC is really spanning the generations. People born from 1950-1988!! I love it. Sorry you live so far away. I visited Altoona PA once. Was there on business. Lovely area of the state. Hope to be keeping up with you. kay

amyj's picture

Oh.. as a few of you and I have commented to each other..we are definately "Chasers"!! But we are all in good company!! Wouldn't it be fun to fly to England and see them??? Ahhhh....

ChaserJulie's picture

Kayzie, Sure, you can join the club! As a matter of fact, I think you already have! I'm right there with ya! Buy tickets first, ask questions later! (And, I have also upgraded on a few ocassions!) I, too, now belong to two PBS stations - neither of them are in the state in which I live! It's all good!

kayzie's picture

Hi: Addicted, YES--you could say so. May I to join the club, too. How did this happen?????? One day I was perfectly normal ( wwll, as normal as I can be), the next day I am joining numerous PBS stations across the country, looking for individual tickets in order to get better seats at the next SNC concert in my area, ordering more tickets that the number of people going ( From Row R to Front Row Orchestra Pit) & every time I turn on the computer, this is the first web site I go to. I love it. Their music has brought a breath of fresh air into my life. Combination of old & new & jazzed. Permasmile is a perfect word for what the music does. These guys have an appeal to all age groups, I would think. I love them to death & look forward to seeing them in Seattle. All of you going to Atlantic City, have a blast!!

hahah yes julie agree!! ridiculous and good looking!! thanks for the welcome!! :D I wouldnt want it any other way they've got me completely obsessed with them!!! They are with out a doubt my favorite thing to listen to :D

ChaserJulie's picture

emily821...welcome to the dark side! I'm giving "With A Twist" a break right now and listening to Christmas music. Nope. Nothing wrong with me! And you're right - they ARE ridiculous, and good looking! Wait. That was ridiculously good loooking. It works either way. =)

Remember I joined a Washington State PBS station to get the Holiday Edition of the DVD? Before I joined I specifically asked if it was the Holiday and NOT the other Edition as I already have that one. I was told it was the Holiday, so I gladly sent in my pledge. Guess what DVD I received in the mail Yesterday? Yep, the non holiday version. I emailed the station to tell them their mistake and to hope they had the version that I wanted to make an exchange. They wrote back today and said they only have the Holiday Version, listed the songs on it and said I was mistaken, there is no other version?!?!!? Well, a "Chaser" knows!!!!!!. I just rewrote giving them the names of the songs on the DVD they sent me, I wanted to send a scanned photo of the unopened DVD cover, but it would not send for some reason. I am normally a very calm person, but it really angered me that when I tried politely to fix a mistake, they assumed that I was wrong. I am still hopeful that I can get my holiday DVD, but if they do not have the correct version, I asked for my money to be returned. It was not my intent to pledge to a second out of state PBS station at the price they wanted to receive a DVD I already own. GRRRRRR.

welcome to the addiction, Emily! :)

I love straight no chase so much! I'm a college music student myself and I saw them at a music educators convention and was left breathless. They are amazing...and such an inspiration that if you work hard and put your heart and soul into something you can become successful. I'm usually not one to become obsessed with famous people or anything but these guys i just can't help but become obsessed with. I cant stop listening to their music. They're all ridiculously good looking and have amazing talent. I'm so happy I got to see them live and now i'm hooked!!!!

Kathleen and Kathy: I'm in heaven. Why? Because now I have the dvd Live in NYC. Thanks for your help and support! ;)

Listening to their music is therapeutic for me as I'm always smiling. But, I love watching them. Seeing the soloist, paying attention to the others and who does what part, and of course their choreography just makes me happy. Very, very happy! :)

Cheers,
Alexandra

Kathleen: Thank you for listing all the songs from the dvd. There are so many!! I'm chompin' at the bit to get that baby.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Cheers,
Alexandra

Kathleen: I can so relate to what you are saying. I live in Williamsburg, VA and the best shopping area is on the edge of Colonial Williamsburg and across the street from the College of William and Mary. When the economy was better and people were traveling, I never went shopping in that area as it was almost impossible to find a parking place and all the "looky-loos" were out and in another zone. Since the economy has been so bad, you can now go almost anytime except for "football" days! You have to learn what have a college near by quickly or you put yourself in a mess! I can't imagine living near Penn State!

Kathleen's picture

Julie: We do a lot of our shopping in State College as we don't have much variety here in Lewistown. I make it a point to check the football schedule before heading anywhere on a home game day. You don't want to be anywhere on RT 322 before or after a game. Of course the best time to go shopping and have the stores and restaurants to yourselves is to go DURING the game. We check the time, then whoosh, head into town, make sure we are out at beginning of the 4th quarter. It's like a ghost town. I moved to this area 9 yrs ago...haven't figured yet if the locals are more obsessed with hunting or Penn State football. SNC is a much saner obsession to have, don't you think? lol

ChaserJulie's picture

Kathleen! SNC on a football weekend? Have you actually BEEN to State College on game day? Now, I could get into tailgating before a concert, but where would we have to park? ROFL! Hey, if you dial up for pizza, I can hand out napkins and beer!

Kathleen's picture

Thanks for you commments Julie and everyone else..it really helps to have someone to talk to who understands this obsession.
Julie, you will practically drive past my home on the way to State College. I am thinking the guys could park their bus in my driveway that night before heading to MD for the concert the next day.. Now if only I could cook...but I CAN "dial up" a mean pizza.
I also need to propose that Ryan start a new research project at State College. When asking some coworkers to accompany me to the show, I have run into "It's hunting season and I need to check if I can get someone to watch the kids as the hubby/wife will be at hunting camp"
The research? ...Would it be easier/faster to sell out in State College during hunting season or if the concert were the same day as a Penn State home football game? I think the world needs to know the answer to this intriquing question.f course this means several concert dates at State College. I think I could put up with that.
