Chasers! Does anyone know who or how to contact about suggesting that SNC sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl 2012 in Indianapolis? This seems to me to be a natural fit since the group sings the National Anthem SO BEAUTIFULLY AND RESPECTFULLY, and with the group *initially* being formed in Indiana, it would have that distinction also.
Congrats on them heading out to more international venues even now! Safe travels to Great Britain!!

Are we going to bombard them with letters in the mail?
"Oh, say can you see, SNC, NBC?"
"OH, say can you see, SNC, NBC??"
More and more convinced that SNC should sing the National Anthem at the 2012 Super Bowl in Indy! Just looking at the website and this address was put up to send a postal letter:
The Office of Frank Supovitz, Senior Vice President/Events
National Football League
280 Park Avenue
New York, NY 10017
I know all the Chasers hit the committee/NFL hard with requests back in November, so they had the SNC name put out there hopefully enough beforehand to make an impact on the powers that be!
This thread is still out there when *googling* Super Bowl Planning Committee!
"Oh, say can you see, SNC, NBC"????
Hey Everyone! If you have "liked" 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Planning Committee..please go there and *like* or *comment* on a status posting by Mimi Rogers. I know several of us have written on that page, or have written to the committee and/or the NFL (several times!), but it never hurts to keep the name out there. Thanks!!! (I just posted this on FB too).
I don't know much about football or the Superbowl, but as a veteran myself ( and a Chaser) I was so appreciative of the tweets from the SNC guys on Veterans Day this past year. I mentioned it during a recent meet & greet, and it was obvious these guys are not only talented and thoughtful, but patriotic too. Just cements the idea they should be at the top of the list to sing the National Anthem at the Superbowl... I might even have to learn a little about football!
Everyone has said it beautifully! The National Anthem is to be sung with respect and pride! There is nothing like hearing it performed for/by/or before a huge crowd that IS showing respect!
Heard from David Britz and the most current news is that they are *starting discussions*. As much as we'd like to think we're the only game in town, we're not (!)..BUT, by starting our requests back in November, maybe we had our foot in the door first and the SNC name was already one they were familiar with.
Contacted the Indy committee again to see if the NFL *logged* the requests in and if we needed to have another go-around of requesting SNC. Again, being persistant, but not obnoxious..also being polite and telling them how WONDERFUL SNC would be to perform the National Anthem, but not disparaging any of the past performers. My guess is that someone's heart fell right into their stomach when someone this year got *caught up in the moment*.
When any info comes in about how and when and what would be proactive at this point..it will definitely be passed on!!
SUPERBOWLFUNFACT:
The Super Bowl is the 2nd most watched sporting event in the world..what is the first?
Soccer Champion League Finals!
9 out of the top 10 TV presentations have been Super Bowl games. Did you watch the 1 out of the 10? It was the finale to the series M*A*S*H.
My older son is an Iraq war vet. He joined the Army reserves pre-9/11 and never thought he would have to actually go to war. Even though it turned his life upside down, he went willingly and served with honor. He has been back for a few years, safe and sound by the grace of God. When I hear the National Anthem done badly, I feel it disrespects my son and those like him, of any age and gender. Our SNC guys (about the same age as my son) sing the anthem with the pride and respect due to our country and those who have served it.
"Oh say can you see SNC, NBC?"
An inspiring thought, beautifully expressed.
Wow, El, thanks for the quote from Mark Corallo. That is exactly what we have talking about right from the beginning. Doing it right and doing it with dignitity. It's about them, the ones who gave their lives for us, the veterans who thankfully came back, and those who are currently serving here and abroad so we can live the lives that we do. It's definately not about the musicians that are there to perform, by no means.
Great vote of confidence for our "team".
"Oh say can you see SNC, NBC?"
Great thoughts, El. :-)
Good afternoon Dear Citizens of Chaserville. Got this from my dad who's aware of our interest and advocacy regarding SNC and the SB 2012 National Anthem. I love it.
Let's keep talking up The Guys and this cause, Folks.
QUOTE
So, with all the kindness I can muster, I give this one piece of advice to the next pop star who is asked to sing the national anthem at a sporting event: save the vocal gymnastics and the physical gyrations for your concerts. Just sing this song the way you were taught to sing it in kindergarten straight up, no styling. Sing it with the constant awareness that there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines watching you from bases and outposts all over the world. Don't make them cringe with your self-centered ego gratification. Sing it as if you are standing before a row of 86-year-old WWII vets wearing their Purple Hearts, Silver Stars and flag pins on their cardigans and you want them to be proud of you for honoring them and the country they love not because you want them to think you are a superstar musician. They could see that from the costumes, the makeup and the entourages. Sing The Star Spangled Banner? with the courtesy and humility that tells the audience that it is about America, not you.

Thanks S! I hadn't looked at the "Let It Out" section today..and I usually read it every day..and snicker! Will do!
For all of you who think we're speaking in code...the "Let It Out" section is in the Indianapolis Star newspaper, where people can just make random comments (and you'd be surprised at how people *express* themselves sometimes!!).
And, I think we've mentioned before that Indy is ALL ABUZZ about how much BETTER the Super Bowl event will be here than the one in Dallas...or ANY OTHER Super Bowl, for that matter!!
SUPERBOWLFUNFACT:
Half of all Americans would rather go to a SUPER BOWL party than a New Years Eve party (this would
NOT have been in the group that went to SNC's NYE celebration this year!!!).
Of the ladies attending Super Bowl parties, only 1 out of 4 actually watch the game...the 3 of the 4 ladies go for the commercials, food and drinks, the friends and the overall atmosphere!
Okay, Kathleen, you and I have to hit "Let it Out." Today's had a comment saying Sandi Patty should sing at the Super Bowl. Not sure if it specified National Anthem or not.
Thank you @Tic Tac Lady for saying we are a "classy group of people supporting a classy group of guys". That means alot!
Hey everyone! Just thanking everyone for staying positive and polite! I was looking at something this morning, that quite frankly, bothered me the way it was written! (not on this thread, but supporting the cause). Remember, these are all public forums, and there is SOMEONE or a group of SOMEONES making the decisions about who sings. The coolest thing about Chasers is that they are a classy group of people supporting a classy group of guys!
SUPERBOWLFUNFACT:
6% of Americans call in sick the Monday after the Super Bowl...hmm, wonder if any of those are the 35% of people who write their tickets off as a business expense??
Alex and Terry...you said it beautifully..and Alex, I drank over my *one pepsi* rule that night!! ^ ~ ^
You are absolutely right @SingForMe, they are awesome and talented and could do it better than most (and many other words- I could go on all day), but the key here may be being the "Hometown Boys from Indiana" on their way to making it big could be the icing on the cake. What better way to say America than having Indiana natives perform THE most patriotic song in the country in Indiana. Seems to be a deal breaker to me!
Love the SB FunFacts... I know we certainly contribute to the chips and guacamole count. I can only imagine what the beer count is. Gotta wash down all those chips with something, right?
Took the words right out of my mouth Alex (Sing for Me)! As you can imagine, Indy is ALL ABUZZ with comments on local pages, and there are a lot more threads for the Half-time entertainment, but only a few for the National Anthem. But yes, it just makes sense for them to perform this!!!
Sandi Patti is another one being written up on the threads..but she had her moment at the Statue of Liberty celebration...if she would sing "God Bless America" or "America", it would be lovely.
ANOTHER SUPERBOWLFUNFACT:
8 MILLION pounds of guacamole is consumed on Super Bowl Sunday...how many chips to go with it you ask?? 14,500 TONS!!! (we're talking world-wide here!) AMAZING again!!
This is very exciting!! They have just GOT to get this. Never mind that they're awesome, talented, men and that nobody can actually do the anthem better than they, but it *just makes sense*!! Indianapolis - Indiana - IU - Straight No Chaser! - It's a no brainer! :)
TTL, that does possibly explain one thing. I dashed off a quick e-mail to my nephew in Peru (the country in South America, not the city in Indiana) on Sunday, and he said he was about to host a Super Bowl party. Would never have guessed.
(pssst...Mary...it's "Indy.") ;-)
El, we are definitely going to keep this in the public eye and make sure that the NFL and the commission in Indie don't *forget* about SNC and us fans. Glad David Britz is on it. Hearing from fans consistently won't hurt, either. Tic Tac Lady: thanks for the SuperBowl FunFact. Amazing!
Since I so enjoy WALTSFUNFACTS/SNCFUNFACTS (and I truly do, Walt..keep them coming!!)..here's a SUPERBOWLFUNFACT:
The SUPER BOWL is broadcast in 230 different countries and in 34 languages! AMAZING!!!
Pardon me El for switching your words just this one time...(same tune!)
"Can the WORLD please now see... SNC... NBC"?!?!?!
Diedre, Kathleen started this thread in November, so it has been around for a while. If you start back at the beginning of this thread, you can see who she has already contacted and what she has found out. I'm sure she wouldn't mind you adding that to your FB page. :-)
There is already a FB group established for this very purpose.... please join us and help us spread the word!!!

Watch out world, when "Chaserville is on a mission" (good Julie) there is no stopping us.
Thanks El for all that support. We need to do this together.
Lovin' it!
I really like the motto: "Oh, Say Can You See SNC, NBC". It's brilliant!
I'll keep checking in to see what else we Chasers can do to help this along.
Thanks, El!!
I think the debacle at this year's Super Bowl was all that was needed to give the Chasers the momentum needed to get this "project" in gear! Chaserville is on a mission!
Thanks for posting that El! We just need to keep the ball rolling!
WOW! That is very happy news!! Thanks El for sharing this wonderful news! :)
A*W*E*S*O*M*E EL!!!
Good evening, everyone. Home from work and wanted to post two items of encouraging information.
First, here's another forum upon which can be added words of support. As you'll see, this started fast and has slowed down considerably on the WTHR facebook page (local Indy NBC affiliate) due to other social network topics superceding it and other postings about 1/2 time SB 2012 that are NOT linked to this particular thread. http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=10150089415306144&set=a.124861...
Second: this AM, in an email from David Britz: "Thanks El ! We're on it with the NFL. Best Regards.
David"
"Oh say can you see SNC, NBC?"
Maybe!
Keep it public, Fans!
