Like most SNC fans, I found them on You Tube. My then 2 1/2 yr old daughter, Abbey, was sitting on my lap when I played the video. She fell in love and so did I :) We couldn't get enough! So, I ordered the DVD (yes, folks, we have the DVD of their '98 concert!) We played that DVD all.the.time! She started to know the songs by heart and would "dance" along. Her favorite? The Lion Sleeps Tonight. I even sent Randy a video of her singing and dancing to it on You Tube.
Imagine our excitement when we heard that they were signed and were doing a concert in Chicago the next year! Unfortunately, you had to be 18 or older to attend. The hubby and I went and took pics for our daughter. She was soooo heartbroken. Then in 2009, they were in Milwaukee..sweet! Even closer for us and we could take Abbey. Wrong, had to be 21 or older. Again, tears and heartbreak while the hubby and I went again. Pics were taken yet again.
Now, this year? You betcha! Abbey finally got to attend a concert in Milwaukee at the Pabst Theater! She was beyond excited! In fact, her tummy was "upset" on Sunday because she was nervous, bubbling over with joy, and just plain happy.
While driving from Green Bay to Milwaukee, we kept hearing "Mommy, are we there yet? How many more minutes now? Will they be able to see me from the stage? Can I meet them mommy? Will I get my picture taken with them?" and repeat 500000 times. We arrived at the theater and sat down in our seats, well hubby and I sat down while Abbey was vibrating with excitement. Lights went out, SNC came on the stage and Abbey was in PURE HEAVEN. I have never seen my child light up and smile as big as she did when they came on the stage. It was quite a predicament for me because I wanted to watch SNC, but at the same time I was watching my daughter's reaction...it was priceless!
She was singing and dancing in her seat with them. She kept telling me how funny Jerome was and that tall skinny one sings really good! (Mike) She did ask where her favorite guy was (Steve - that's because he sang Lion Sleeps Tonight, and she associates her favorite song with "her guy") So, I had to explain yet again, that he's no longer in the group cuz he had a baby...etc.
When they sang The Lion Sleeps Tonight, she said "Oooo MOMMY! That will be my new favorite guy!" Meaning Ryan. LOL Then Seggie caught her eye. "Mommy! I want to meet him too!" I told her we will get to meet all the guys. Again, pure joy in her face.
Concert was done (so we thought)! We got up and promptly proceded downstairs to the lobby to get in line for the meet and greet. We were 2nd in line. Then what do we hear? More singing!!! They came out for a 2nd encore. She looked sad, but I told her that we're 2nd in line to meet them..then she was happy! LOL
The guys came up for the meet and greet and she was again vibrating with excitement. She grabbed the CD out of my hand and marched up to the table, while I was thinking, "Ok, where's the nervous/scared lil girl?" LOL She started chattin with they guys - they asked her what her favorite song was, what music does she listen too, does she sing..etc. Again, the joy radiating from her almost made me tear up.
Unfortunately, we did not get a picture of her with the guys. I didn't want to be like "Excuse me, can ya'll stop signing stuff and huddle together for a pic with Abbey?" LOL But, needless to say, I can assure you that SNC made a fan for life Sunday night. And she now has another favorite song - The Lady GaGa Remix. :)
So, to SNC, I say THANK YOU for making my daughter's day/year!
Now, hopefully, ya'll will find a venue closer to Green Bay so we don't have to hear "Are we there yet? How many more minutes now?" LOL
Crystal

So sweet, Jerome!
Crystal, I love your story! Mine is similar for my 4-year old daughter Rory. We drove to Lake Tahoe for the weekend last month so we could see the guys together. She was also bouncing in her seat! She sang along to Paparazzi. She baked them cupcakes. She started off brave in line in the meet and greet and got progressively more shy, so I got no pics either! She had me ask why they didn't sing "All the Single Ladies," so Jerome sang it to her softly (collective awwwwwww). Maybe December in Cupertino, we'll see how it goes. Yay for Tiny Chasers!
Alexsandra! SNC 10 minutes from your home?!?! First show?!?! Go early! Stay late! You are gonna have the time of your life! What a great way to start your holiday, girl!!! Very excited for you!!! =)
So cute! I have three 5-year-olds and an 8-year-old. They all love SNC, but my 5-year-old Erin in particular keeps asking me when she can go to a concert. I guess I'm gonna have to scrape my pennies together and get 6 tickets at some point! I think it would definitely be worth the expense for the kids to have the experience of seeing the show and then meeting the guys.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful story!
Loved reading your story!
What a wonderful effect music has and especially SNC music! Their music is truly ageless.
I'll be seeing the guys for the first time in Windsor in December, only 10 minutes from home. How lucky am I?? I expect to be vibrating just like Abbey.
Thanks everyone! To GBPF, yes I have suggested they book The Meyer Theater here in Green Bay. That would be a perfect venue for the guys! Or Fox Valley Performing Arts Center :)
Abbey is still talking about the concert and the guys. Wants to go see them again. Debating if we should go to the December show in Chicago. That might be too long of a ride for her tho.
Thanks for sharing your story, brought a big Chaser smile to my face.
And once again showing just how wonderfully gifted and talented our guys are in their ability to evoke such devotion from little girls to us more mature women...and let's not forget all the guy Chasers too. I don't know of another group that has such a wide fan base. I can never seem to find all the right words to describe just what joy our guys have brought into the lives of their Chasers with their gift they so willingly share with us.
Sweet and wonderful story! Thank you for sharing it with us, Crystal. It brightened my day.
Oh Crystal, that's really too bad about Abbey not getting her pic taken with them!
As others have said, we usually go down the line in back of them & either get the pics while whatever they're signing goes down the front!
If you'd been further down the line, you probably would have seen that happen with the people in front of you.
I reallllly wish I'd read your post 1/2 hour ago, cause I just got tickets for my niece & sis in law, & my cousin & her daughter as xmas presents for the matinee show in Chicago on 12/11!
Hi Crystal,
I had previously posted a request they put Green Bay on the this tour list due to the fact that the Fox Valley is noted for good musical talent and appreciative audiences---hence the musicals put on at St. Norbert's College in De Pere. (I can see it now, "SNC at SNC!") I've not been to the Resch Center in Green Bay, although, other "Names" have been featured at that venue. The casino venue may not work due to a possible age restriction. Time for the Northeastern Wisconsin fans to lobby Straight No Chaser for an appearance in the Green Bay area. the price of admission is reasonable and your daughter could bring a friend!
Crystal: What a great story and I'm sure the guys will love it as well. I think the guys would have been filled with joy to have their picture taken with a "young" fan! Glad you were able to get your daughter to the show and that she enjoyed seeing and hearing the guys in real life! What a story she will have to tell as she grows up. There is nothing more precious then have a young child enjoying what you do and love! Great story!
Aaaww this made me tear up. I don't think the guys realize how special they are or how many lives they have touched!! They are definitely a group for EVERYONE no matter what age!!
Thanks for sharing this story with us!
I LOVED reading this. I can't count how many times I said awwwww. :-)
Hi Crystal!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on SNC, and especially those from Abbey's perspective - how fun!! I'm so glad she finally was able to see them live, I can just picture her in her seat, from your descriptions :) Sounds like the Milwaukee trip was memorable in more ways than one - what a great story! Hopefully next time you see them, you'll be able to get some pics w/Abbey and The Boys - I'd imagine she'd keep those pics pretty close by (or pinned up on her walls, or the kitchen fridge!) :)
Thanks again for sharing your wonderful story with us!
-Annie
How cute is that?? So happy that all of you got to see them. I'm sure you were torn, watching the guys or watching your daughter! Love that she now has a new favorite guy!
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful experience!
Expanding Chaser age limits one fan at a time! ^_^ I love this, and I'm so glad Abbey finally got to see a show! I hope next time you'll be able to get a picture...and until then, I'm sure you'll be hearing Lady Gaga SNC style on repeat. =) (You better watch this little lady...She DOES seem to have superb taste.) Cheers to another T.C....(Tiny Chaser!)
S.J.
Glad you got to have such a great experience! :-) Yes, go for at least individual shots next time. I think they like to wait until the whole line is gone to go group shots, and she likely wouldn't have the patience for that. Thanks for telling your story.
AW!!! This was the cutest post yet! She's so lucky she discovered them at such a young age! And I can just see all of the guys interacting with her! Mini-Chaser!
LOVE THIS!!! Your daughter has impeccable taste in men! And, you should have had them stop signing stuff for a photo op! Or, at least next time, get her picture with the individual guys as you go down the line. This is priceless. So happy for her!!
