2009 Fall - Winter Tour Reviews - post yours here!

Hi,

First welcome all new & existing Straight No Chaser fans!

This is a new start to a previous discussion that was on the old SNC web site and I felt that it needed to be brought back. It kind of centralizes all of the reviews in one place rather than all over this site.

I know I speak not only for myself but many fans in North America and even overseas.   We want to appreciate your experiences/stories after going to the guy's concerts.  Also include your moments during the meet & greets after their performance.

Not only do we (us fans) want to hear your story - but I know for a fact that the SNC guys enjoy hearing them also!

So get on board people....as of this writing, Pittsburgh was last night. Nappa and Oregon was last week.  Bring your eperience here.

Thanks!

Dave

No problem and please, call me "S." ;-) Thanks for the postscript. They really are great with fans, aren't they?

I'm going there quickly! I haven't joined the Ellen board yet but I do read the myspace page(s) now. That's two for my checklist and I'm on it. SBrandon, thanks so much! : )

I forgot a few things from the show last night.

Through my delirium I forgot to mention one of the group, not from lack of notice. The charming and talented Dave had some great vocals and bright expression with all he does. He’s really "there", pleasantly smiling.

So . . . Eagles talk: Did you know canaries can fly through hurricanes? (omg that was precious) The football banter was hilarious and a mention of The Lions. It’s all done with class. Ok they did bring up something about short tennis shorts during the sports chat (not naming names). All in fun, they’re so good-natured about it. Charlie really got that segment going with wit and great timing. All of a sudden, they'd segue and burst out in song.

Someone in the audience shouted out a team/group that escaped me and there was a group a couple rows behind me with a banner for Mike. One of the guys mentioned it on stage (forget who, maybe Randy?), at which point the group erupted in squeals and shouts. They are so gracious to their fans. Another one of those priceless moments.

The group took the audience’s pic, too. Those camera chips are going to be busy with audiences for a long time if I guess that right.

LFNJ, there was a discussion topic started just a few days ago about what kind of SNC merchandise fans might want, so be sure to post to that thread. Have you joined the SNC facebook group and the "Get Straight No Chaser on Ellen" group??

Thanks, Dave. By the time I got to the back of the theater, the line was jamming the entire lobby. I was glued to my seat (except for ovations). Looked like a couple hundred people were back there, so I went upstairs for a few-- lines, lines, everywhere a line, blocking out the scenery . . . um, fixed my face. The fine gents were just coming up the aisle from backstage. The whole theater cheered for them!

I had been up for 2 days on the pilgrimage, ecstatic about getting a ticket the night before! (A fluke, that's what I mean by a miracle.) When I got to town, I stopped at the printers to get my official kitchy autograph sheet printed (and just got there in time for the pre-curtain announcement). And after all that jiggling, clapping, foot stomping . . . snow on the way -- I was kind of concerned. I got in my car just before 11 and there were still droves of people. I would happily do once a week though. Who needs sleep and food when the spirit is nourished? : )

From now until spring, I am setting out the concert travel itinerary! And will humbly grovel for double-duty signings (new kitchy spring banner coming) if they would be gracious enough to sign. Extra highlights coming right up!

One comment for the creators and/or handlers, there are scarce posters available. I mean the theater last night had posters of Frankie Valle, upcoming events, Boz Skaggs . . . I didn't see any print art/posters of SNC last night. And the programs depend on the venues. It would have rocked to get official posters or venue ads to have them sign, along with CDs. Unless I was so late getting my tickets at the box office, I didn't even see a small color press card of them by the box office ledge. I'd love that kind of memorabilia. Any thoughts?

I use this ID on a few websites so LFNJ is fine. Thank you so much for hosting this discussion board. It’s great to be a part of this phenomenon with everyone’s memories and all the warm wishes here.

I am so bummed. :( I'm supposed to be going to the show tonite in Boston and I can't because we are getting a Nor'Easter. I'm so sad, this was my birthday present from my hubby and now I can't enjoy it. I would have to drive from Rhode Island (Which isn't that far) But I think it would be too scary in the middle of whiteout conditions. SNC Please, please, please add a RI or CT show!!! (Think...Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods/MGM in CT or PPAC or Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence!!)

    Philly - Keswick Theater
Packed house, phenomenal acoustics. I must have been in some cruel time warp until I first saw them online. Nothing compares to seeing them 25 feet in front of me, joking around and immersing us in those velvet sounds. Their smooth swaying and footwork were icing!

Jerome and Walter are PA natives, making it a very personal night for us. One can't help but feel connected -- they perform to you. These men are joy, talent, hope --and dreams personified, like dreaming of music on a nice long nap. You wake up and it has come true.

Thanks to Walter, I will never get groceries again without thinking of SNC's Can-Can. The first time I saw that video, I literally fell off my chair getting the phone. Tonight was a close second.
If angels were on that stage, they'd envy Michael's vocals. (They might have been.)
I didn't want to say too much but Dan was so nice to Walter tonight, except Walter didn't know how to take that. (haha) And he sure can whistle, and is a natural at performing arts.
Seggie is, too. He gets his groove on! Dancing with the Stars?
Charlie was the stand-up, with a Hi-De-Ho par excellence! Randy ran neck-in-neck, of course. Because of that, Jerome had to mention chocolate. Thanks a lot! (concession stand lines wind down the hall around the corner. torture!) I'm scared to ask about the "Carlton" thing.
Randy's Magic Video. Does it sound like a movie title? He really plays to the audience. Very at-ease and mellow.
Ryan's song styling, huge smile factor and fun-loving personality are wondrous.
Tyler's high notes: Hide your fine crystal. (Any agents from "The Bachelor" out here?)

Been a long time since any group or theater event affected me like this. Whether fever, high, or Christmas miracle, I will just ride it out.

Oh, I can send cheese steaks from Philly if SNC misses us and/or gets a craving. Please do not let the word out.

Chips read the below post first

    continued from below

So about a week before it came time to see them again in December, I'd received the memo about no more sweets, I saw the guys posted pictures of them touring the winery in Napa, Ca. Well,,,,I figured that Northeast Ohio produces some pretty damn good wines. One of the local wineries, every year bottles a special bottle for the holidays, called "St. Nicholas Holiday Blush". I told the guys that when the tour was over and when they were finally at home with friends/family/loved ones, that was when they should enjoy the wine.

Alittle confused though......are you and Seggie good friends.....did you owe him from a bet or what....seems he made out pretty good over the rest of the gang, judging by the number of bills in his hand.

Seriously,,,,thanks for your post and picture,,,,and also thanks for drawling my attention to your missed post. I enjoyed them all.

Take care, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

    Dave

Chips!!!! Okay....it took a bit of looking to try to figure out what you were talking about. I honestly don't know how I missed your post - I even glanced at your pictures and I still missed it! Great picture, by the way.

Well, my man,,,,,I bow before you as you have definitely raised the bar. You obviously have much deeper pockets then I. If I ever come up your way....we must get together and you can buy a few rounds.

So here is a little background. Months ago, probably March, a few of us (from the first SNC site) were trying to bribe the guys to appear in our local areas first when they began their tour. In doing so, it started out with different baked goodies. All of which were welcomed with open arms (actually hands) once the concert tour began. This was fine for awhile, until a few of us got a memo saying that sweets probably should be put on hold. Seems they were holding on to a couple extra calories.

By the way,,,,this was a bit of friendly bantering.....was never ment to be a competition. It was more to express how much fun we were having with the guys through outrageous and off topic discussions. OKAY---so I guess I was the FIRST to bring a plate of cookies in September @ Lorain (lol bragging here).

    to be continued

Dave, I'm disappointed that you didn't comment on my post. I went to a lot of trouble getting a picture of the guys with old Ben and not one comment from you.

Jelly, I have to honestly say that I did not notice that, nor do I want to even imagine it. >___< I may be a teenager, but I have my boundaries.
