a question for the guys

So I'm watching you all sing "You Send Me," and I see that you everyone is snapping to the inside of the stage, which means some are using right hands and some are using left.  Can you all snap ambidextrously?

These comments are great, thanks! :-D Okay, when are we going to hear from at least one of the professionals?

I can kinda snap on my right hand, but my left hand looks awkward and pathetic when it tries to snap...

My fingers, of either hand, make little to no sound when I attempt to snap them. I always get really excited when I produce a snap. Sad story, I know.

S, I don't think there's a pitch to snapping. They don't really need to be 'in tune' per se. It's more where the sound falls on the beat and making sure everyone hits it exactly.

In one video, I remember seeing Seggie intentionally snapping on the off beat of Lion King/Brown Eyed Girl. Not sure why that's too important other than it makes me laugh and really makes me think the guys aim for precision not pitch with their snapping. :o)

Maybe because I was always snapping as a kid for fun (weird, I am) and during my 15 years of flute lessons to feel the beat, you really can't tell the difference between my hands- sound or volume.

Both of my parents were always snapping and same with them, both hands loud and no difference, especially my dad! He could snap from across a crowded room and we'd know we were being "called". LOL

But will practicing get them in tune with one another, Dave? :-\

Sarah & S - my guess is that you have to practice snapping w/ both hands to get the right volume from either hands.

    Happy snapping! :o)

nope, mine don't sound the same either... and my right hand snaps louder than my left.

Do your left and right hands sound the same when you snap? Mine don't. The left isn't in the same key. ;-) (It really doesn't sound the same, and isn't as loud.)

I never really thought about it, but I would imagine that they can snap with both hands equally. I don't have a need to snap for anything other than just to snap, and I can snap with both hands and no synching needed LOL

Ryan made a comment last summer about getting a snapping blister. :-) A lot of people can't snap as well with their non-dominant hand. Do you think they can all do it, or do they -- gasp! -- do snap syncing? (Like lip syncing, only not.) Oh, the horror! :-O

Not only do they have to have strong voices they need strong fingers too. lol My hand gets tired just snapping through one song much less a whole concert worth.

Interesting Question S. I would think, but who knows. I guess that's why they are being asked.
