Here it is Summer a time when hopefully we all can find a little more reading time. For those making the journey to AC a good book might just be the perfect take-along while you wait to see SNC at Harrah's.

Here are just a few Ive read that I have enjoyed. I read a wide variety of books so don't be surprised bnut the differences.

Never Wave Goodbye by Doug Magee  (You may never wnat to put your child on a bus again)

The Cross Gardener by Jason F. Wright  (truly a inspirational read)

The Passage by Justin Cronin  (If you are a fan of Steven king's The Stand then this is a read for you)

My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira (If you were/are a fan of the series Docotr Quinn on tv then you will like this book.)

Thats all for now buty as a plow through books this summer I will share those i found very good.

Happy Reading and God Bless.

I read "This Time Together" by Carol Burnett this summer- really good.

Then read "Wicked" & "Son of a Witch" by Gregory Maguire, and I'm almost finished "A Lion Among Men". These alternate Oz stories have been NOTHING like what I expected (even though I'm not sure exactly what I did expect), but I liked reading them. They are pretty complicated, with a lot of politics and at times ridiculously obscure vocabulary. I have a hard time keeping track of some of the characters and plot points, because they all weave in & out of all 3 books, with some events being recounted in all 3 books but from different points of view. And there is some foul language and "adult situations". It's kind of a weird mix, but the books have kept my interest.

I love to read...my hubby loves to go to yard sales...so he figured out a way that he THINKS gets him out of trouble from buying more "stuff" for himself...he has a good idea of my taste in books and brings home 3 or 4 books that he pays 10-50 cents for...he actually does a pretty good job of picking for me..he's only brought home 2 books that I had already read and it had been so long ago that I reread them...I have about 2 boxes of books to get through and I have taken about 4 boxes this summer to donate to my public library.( I am a fast reader)
Looking forward though to reading the only book that I bought this summer that my son recommended.
So next book I start will be "The Passage", I was happy to see Cindy also has this as a recommendation. I read "The Stand" years ago and loved that one..

I just finished "Worst Case" by James Patterson and I have to say it was probably one of the most difficult books of Patterson's to read. I was very disappointed with it. I'm now just a few pages into "the Postcard Killer" hoping I will like it. Cindy, I'm glad you mentioned it as I'm a little skeptical as it is the same co-author as Worst Case.

    "the Cure" Robin Cook
    "Broken" Karen Slaughter

    All three goood reads.
Getting ready to start the next installment of the Shannara series by Terry Brooks

I'm really into the classics right now- Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte), anything by Jane Austen, Wuthering Heights (Emily Bronte)....

Still on my reading list for the summer: Always Looking Up (Michael J. Fox), Anthropology of an American Girl, Catcher in the Rye (J. D. Salinger), Great Expectations (Charles Dickens)

Two books that I really enjoyed (read them years ago) are both by Tom Brokaw: Boom- a collection of different topics centered around the 1960s (race, politics, economy, etc); and The Greatest Generation- multiple stories of those that served in World War II and other influential individuals during that time. Excellent reads!

Lauren - I agree on "Lucky Man." I also have "My Sergei" which is the story of Sergei Grinkov and Ekatarina Gordeeva. So unfortunately sad, yet it is such a love story between this couple. And, another of my favs are two books of Tim Russert - "Big Russ and Me," and "Wisdom of Our Fathers."

I'll be borrowing "the Shack" from a friend! Don't want to be on the "left out" list! I'm not a big reader, but wish I could get my nose in a book more often.

I just bought "The Shack" last night - so it's as good as I've heard everywhere?! The cashier even glowed about it as she was ringing up my purchase. I'm sure it will be a great read-looking forward to it.

My current is the latest Debbie Macomber. Light reading before bedtime, although I have plenty of non-fiction on the library shelf, too.

I am currently reading Drew Brees' "Coming Back Stronger" which I think is a great read. Drew is the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints who has experienced some hugh obstacles in his life and how his faith has kept him strong and able to cope with those obstacles. It is not for everyone but I'm loving it as a football fan, supporter of Purdue University (even if the guys of SNC are from their rival school), and an admirer of Drew who many thought could not make it in the professional ranks.

For all of you who have read "the Shack" and have had it touch your life; I HIGHLY suggest you read "Rooms" by James L. Rubart. This book is joining my shelf of read again books.
