Hi Everyone,

With all the nasty weather that many of us have experienced, ya know the stay inside with a hot cup of tea... a snuggie blanket and a book.  Thought it might be fun to see what we all like to read and perhaps it will give us something new to consider reading.

I read a wide variety of books and some books I have read on on my "read at least once a year shelf".  For me books are a great escape from the everyday hassles.  anyway below are some of my favorite books.

The entire Shannara series by Terry Brooks.  there are 19 books to this series that he started back in the mid 70's.  It is epic fantasy  good verses evil.  I put right up there with Tolkien.

Little Women by l. Alcott ( I have my orginal copy that i have had since i was 11 years old.  It's one of my read at least once a year books.

The Little Prince and the Velveteen Rabbit are to of my favorite books with hidden life lessons.  Sometimes the simplest have very deep lessons.

The Wisdon Of the Sands by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

The Shack by Wm. Paul Young.  Excellent book.  For those who feel their path has strayed from God... a great book to help you find your Path back.

Anything that Ted Dekker has written I have his complete works.

I could go on and on for pages but I'll stop here. I'm hoping to find some new reading intersts from whatever you all might write here.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.  God bless.

I have one more author I would highly recommend and that is ..... Calvin Miller. I first read his trilogy; "The Singer, The Song, The Finale back in the late 70's. Other books he has written are; "Loving God up Close, Life is Mostly Edges, The Unfinished Soul and Into the Depths of God.

All of his books are on my re-read list; help to keep me grounded.

    God bless.

Well Spring is here and Summer is right around the corner. Thought ide put a few more read choices here. For those who liked the "Twilight" series i would suggest the "House of Night" series by P.C. Cast. There is quite abit more fould language but the story line is really good.

i would also recommend "Tinkers" by Paul Harding.

Hope everyone has a great Spring/Summer. Don't forget to read a book or 2... good for the mind.
    God bless.

How did I miss this!! I love fantasy books. I read Piers Anthony's Xanth series; Anne McCaffrey's Dragons of Pern series; and anything by Dean Koontz.

Too hard to choose just a few!! I always have to be reading at least 1 at a time, if not 2.

    Top of the list though:
    The Last Lecture
    Harry Potter series
Three Cups of Tea (and the sequel)
Lots of so called 'banned' books.
    Dr. Seuss/Shell Silverstein, etc.
    The Polar Express

I'm sitting here with a stack of 12 books trying to decide what to read next. I'm leaning towards the newest Terry Brooks "Princess of Landover". (I'm an epic fantasy fan.) I just finished reading "Same Kind of Different as Me". If you likes the book "The Shack" then there is a good chance you will like this one too. I also just finished re-reading "A Tear and a Smile".

Take care everyone. stay safe and healthy and happy reading. God Bless.

Okay, let me qualify my previous statement: I'm enjoying stream of consciousness books written by Virginia Woolf or in the style of Virginia Woolf (Cunningham). Haven't read Joyce yet.

Grade school favorite on my "get this back out and read it again periodically" shelf: A Wrinkle in Time. Loved it then; love it now. The movie was fairly well done until they go to the end, so that was a big disappointment.

Shaina - stream of consciousness? Really??? I was never one to skip required reading, but I don't think I got three pages into James Joyce's Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man before I put it down and never picked it back up. I took good notes in class and did okay on the test.

The Inkheart Series was also pretty good. Another blurring of book world and our world. The movie based on the first movie was ok but I was disappointed with some of the casting and how they altered some things - they clearly will not be making the other two books into movies.

I'm finding that as I read books for school assignments that I'm really enjoying books written in stream of consciousness. Well, the only two that I've read so far are "Mrs. Dalloway" and "The Hours", and I really like those. I also like "Jane Eyre"... :D

And since I'm such a Francophile, I've really enjoyed books by Peter Mayle.

There is no thriller like a Dean Koontz book, (at least any book he's written before his dog died). I like to suggest One Door Away From Heaven for starters. And for kids books that are still great for all ages, the Redwall series (I need to catch up on the last three).
