Great for Babies

I love acapella music, so when I caught wind of SNC I was stoked.   There was a PBS special on a bit back that showcased a portion of their NY concert and my wife was gracious enough to DVR it for me.   Naturally it was fantastic.

Here's the bonus, and the tip for any parents.   Apparently a love for acapella is genetic.   My 16 month old daughter's favorite nighttime ritual is to sit on the couch on my lap and watch the PBS special.   She starts out bobbing her head and clapping along with the audience at the end of the songs and by the end is soothed to sleep.

So next time your baby is out of his/her mind at bedtime, pop in some SNC and see what happens!

This is so true, Pennmartkd. Have you heard SNC's "All Through The Night?" It's AMAZING! My 2 year old niece, Mila, loves it. Well, she loves all of their songs, but this one especially if she's close to bedtime.

I work at a child care center with 2 yr olds. I'll have to try it!

Wow. Who knew SNC were such great babysitters?

You know interestingly enough, this works with my son too. Whenever he is upset in the car I can put on the With a Twist CD and it quiets him down. "Joy to the World" works best.

I'm sure a repeat tape of "All Through the Night" would settle anyone down.

LOL @ SheriS...it usually happens when someone around you starts humming something or mentions a song, then ya can't get it out of your head, but we say "Thanks, for the earworm!"

Kathy: I heard someone say on TV the other day "you have an 'earworm'" when you have that song that keeps running through your mind! I prefer "haunting melody" instead of earworm. I agree with you whatever they call it.

I guess babies are not unlike all of us crazy adult fans, except I'm never "soothed to sleep" when I listen to them. I actually have to make sure I don't listen to them right before bedtime or I'll have the songs going over and over in my head and I won't be able to sleep!

I am a nanny myself... I have SNC as a ringtone and noticed that the little boy I watch (he's 6 months old now) lights up when he hears it. So, when he starts getting fussy, I pull out my iTouch and play a few songs. He's particularly fond of You're My Best Friend and Joy To The World
