Lyrics:

The moonlight shines on the sycamores
And now they are calling to me
In the city, it’s snowing the sidewalk’s glowing
But there’s somewhere I’d rather be

Thousands of people all walking by
Somehow I’m still alone
I’m gonna spend winter my way
I’ll get on a highway
I’m ready to find the way home

(Indiana)
That’s where I’m going
This time of year you know how I feel
(Indiana)
That’s where I’m going
Where Christmas will always be real

We’ll build up a fire tell a story too
With good friends we always invite
The old and the young come together as one
And we sing into the night

(Indiana)
That’s where I’m going
This time of year you know how I feel
(Indiana)
That’s where I’m going
Where Christmas will always be real

And I remember those who are gone
Looking down on my home from above
Deep in December is where I belong
Sharing the days with the ones who I love

Indiana (8x)

Where Christmas will always be real

The moonlight shines on the sycamores
And now they are calling to me

Saw the show in Boston - it was magical! As we descended in the parking garage elevator (packed) somebody started humming "do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do" from Christmas in Africa - several joined in, everybody smiled.
After we got home, my husband bought this album. I absolutely love Indiana Christmas....moved to tears. Each year my family gathers at my folks' home on Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, IN. We come from all over the country to be together. And though my parents are gone now, we celebrate each other, my folks and all those we have lost. And we share cherished memories and create new ones. Thanks for this song .. and Peace to all. Ginger

I am so in love with this song and the album all together. I was listening to this song while I was at work. I came across a letter from a customer notifying us that her husband had passed in September. Further on it stated that she was 86 yrs old and as I was processing the information I was relating her news to the words of this song. Talk about reaching the soul via your music = ) I cried, Don't stop making beautiful music!

Brought tears to my eyes. It's because of my hometown Christmas celebrations that I moved back home and away from the big city. Amazing.

I'm so sad I didn't get any tickets to see SNC this year.. I'm crossing my fingers for the next tour!

A friend of mine told me that she stumbled across these alums (singers) over the holidays and asked me to check out this web site. I loved all the albums! This song made me remember the wonderful times I had in Indiana. I´m now in São Paulo-Brazil, but for sure I will be back to visit Bloomington again. I left there in 2001. IU Alum - Juliana

My Hoosier sister and bro-in-law sent this song to me on a special Christmas CD...love it! I have not been back to Indiana for many years (I live in Florida now). A song is special when it makes you cry, this one is special. Thanks for sharing. IU Alum

I only just now heard this song, and as many others have said, it is a beautiful song and makes all kinds of sentimental thoughts flow. Hope you guys make it to northern Indiana for a concert! Go Hoosiers!

I just bought both Christmas CDs and have played them over and over the past two weeks. Indiana Christmas always makes me cry, and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen outdoes my other favorite version by BNL...With Christmas almost over I am going to have to purchase your other nonChristmas CD to play! Any way to download some of these songs on Facebook?

I really love this song too, and I think it's applicable to everyone, no matter where you call home. :o)

BTW, the soloists on the albums are listed on the CD jacket. Mike Itkoff, who was an original SNCer but isn't currently with the group, sings the solo here.

I heard this for the very first time today on my to the store. I only caught the tail end, and of course I couldn't replay it. Took me awhile to locate any info as I didn't know the name of the song or artist. I think that this is a beautiful song and I do live in IN. I shall purchase this album.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song and it makes me cry everytime I hear the last stanza about remembering the ones who are gone. This will be my 2nd Christmas w/o my mom. I miss her dearly. Thanks SNL! You've made us Hoosiers, more specifically IU Hoosiers, VERY PROUD!

This my absolute favorite Christmas song by SNC (and I'm not even from Indiana). Something about the harmonies and nostalgia of going home makes me smile everytime.
