It's always been a dream of mine to walk into a music store and purchase my own album. That dream came true last Tuesday when I went to the Borders on State Street. I was with my dad and brother, we had just finished lunch together in downtown Chicago and decided to walk to Borders to see if they had the album. My dad found it first sitting on the shelf. He took a picture of me holding it with his cell phone camera. I took it down to the cash register and paid $15.42. I plan on keeping that CD and the receipt for the rest of my life - seems cheesy, I know. But it was truly an amazing feeling walking into a national retail store (right down the street from where I work) and buying the new Straight No Chaser album. Not many people can say they've done that, which is why I feel particularly blessed to have this opportunity.
My friend and photographer at ABC, Tracy, went to the Barnes & Noble the same day in Palentine, IL. She bought every copy in the store! Fortunately it didn't cost her too much - because the store only had one copy. Ha. Hopefully that store at least ordered two copies for the next shipment. You have to start somewhere!

Congrats! I found out last year what it was like to cut a CD for the first time (which you have done many times with SNC), so I can imagine how exciting it was to buy your own CD. I always wondered what happened to SNC. I first saw you guys up at Camp Brosius (Go IU!) back around 1997. I am excited to see what the future brings you guys, and I look forward to seeing you perform again one day. Again, Congrats!
I love the saying "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead, where there is no path...and leave a trail." I think that is what you did, all those years ago when you "got some buddies together...the ones you knew could sing". Job well done. I will be watching.
